Highway Dept. Buries Three Basking Sharks
GEARHART I The State
Highway Department Tuesday
worked at burying three basking
sharks that washed up on the
beach near here Sunday.
The fish, all about 25 feet long,
were identified as' male basking
sharks, a native of Pacific North
west waters, which lives on plank
ton, i minute form of ocean life.
Cause of the deaths could not he i

between McCarthy and the Army

dentist, had been called a "Fifth
Amendment Communist" by Mc
Carthy after declining to answer
questions at a committee hearing
last February. The next day Per
ess was given an honorablo dis
charge from the Army, and 'Mc
Carthy immediately wanted . to
