Wallick Wins
Armory Match
It took the help of a disqualifi
cation fall at the match's begin
ning to give Leo Wallick a best of
three-fall decision over Killer Kam
eroff in Saturday night's main
event.
The epic struggle produced all
the fireworks expected between the
two titans of the mat with Kamer
off evening the match on a second
fall full nelson and Wallick win
ning it with his rugged piledriver.
Wallick took the advantage at
the start when the referee awarded
him the opening fall after Killer
and his brother, Wildman, both at
tacked the bewildered Crippler in
mid-ring before the brawl had even
officially started.
With this early lead, it took Kam
eroff's toll nelson eight minutes
later' to even things up. Wallick,
however, ended hostilities and Kill
er's hope of victory by deflating
his opponent with piledrivers iu
the third fall. .
Crapplers Stag Draw
Maurice LaChappelle and John
Paul Henning staged an even, two
fall draw in the second match of
the evening. The affair went the
30-mtnute limit with even grapp
ler having taken one fall.
LaChappelle took the opener with
a figure- four toe hold and surf
board at 16:50 and Henning came
back for the evener with a cradle
hold at 8:43.
A draw also marked the opening
match between Luis Martinez and
Boris Kameroff, unscheduled par
ticipant in the evening's final
event. In this one, the best that
Boris could do was a no - fall
draw against his smaller foe over
the 20-minute route.

straight state swimming champion
ship, scoring 56 points. South
Salem was runnerup with 22.

the third dinner in just about
week, and is about the only strings
that long for the whole season.
Just shows what a feller will do
for a buck. The third was grabbed
off -by Willard Thompson, filling
in for Bowling Alley Cafe Wednes
day night.
. BATT started with a couple
spares, and after cinching the
steak feed, eased up and drew a
10th frame 4-6 split, winding up
with 245. Thompson started with
the string, then faltered a bit at
the finish, but still totaled a wal
loping 246, the week's top effort.
A pair .of 600's during the week.
Arlo Jacklin started it off with
lines of 198-195-208 for a scant 601,
while Don Nye felled timber at
the rate of 225-190-188 for a husky
603 to top the Industrial wheel.
Ih the close race department, ev
ery team in the Town League has
a chance for top prize, with only
11 points separating top and bot
tom. Hydorn Electric leapfrogged
into first spot Monday night with
Moose Lodge as the victim. Three
teams tied for second only one
point back, and two more only
five points off the pace.
THEN, in the shoo-in depart
ment fcoth Classic leaders seem to
have the first half cinched, with
long leads and only four more
sets to go. Firmco of Myrtle Creek
looks to be in, with a long lead
in Merchants, but in the balance
of the leagues lightning could
strike most any time or anybody.

Several nifty games during the
week, including Bob Kidder's 225,
John Guzzo's 229, Vince Nordling's
232, Jack Hayman's 224 and John
Sander's 234. Ed Willits also got a
big one, then seemed to lose in
terest in his work. He followed a
blazing 243 with a sorry 116. That's
probably the biggest drop during
the season, but, then, few of us
ever get high enough to drop that
much.
Low scores prevailed Thursday
night, with Ote Skinner's 533 the
best set in the Commercial and
Marv Pope's 209 high single. How
ever, the exceptions that proved
the rule were the Hennebeck Broth
ers of Firmco. Gerry got a neat
218-556, but big brother Jim Top
ped him with 225-567. These boys
packed the team for a four-point
sweep.

At Provo, Utah, a late Washing
ton rally sparked by Doyle Per
kins lent the game into overtime.
With only seconds remaining, Per
kins' jump shot gave the Huskies
a 53-50 lead. Two BYU field goals
and a Washington foul shot tied
it at 54-54 at the end of the reg
ular period. The Cougars dom
inated play in the overtime to band
the Huskies their first loss in four
starts.
Washington State pulled a thril
ler out of the fire despite a 38
point scoring spree by Whitworth'j
6-10 center Phil Jordan. The lead
changed hands half a dozen times
as the teams battled down to the
wire. Whitworth led 21-13 midwisy
of the first half but WSC rallied
to lead 35-34 at the intermission.
Sophomore forward Larry Beck
paced the Cougar attack with 22
points.
Idaho and Utah State staged one
of the highest scoring contests in
years in the clash at Moscow. The
score was tied 76-76 at the end
scored a total of 26 points in the
