guardsmen Wednesday joined Ine

Westside Christian Church Dates Male Quartet Sunday

TO BE HEARD The Northwest Christian College Quartet
will be heard in concert of sacred music at. the Westside
Christian Church Sunday evening ot 7:30. The public
is invited to attend services.
The Northwest Christian College
Male Quartet is well known all
over the Northwest, as they have
sung in many of the communities
in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and
Montana. The members of the
quartet are chosen at a try-out
from among the students of the
College, and after they are select
ed are carefully trained by the Mu
sic Department of the College in
preparation for their concert work.
Northwest Christian College is a
college which specializes in train
ing workers for the Church, minis
ters, missionaries, directors of
Christian education, and other em
ployed positions in the Church.
Northwest Christian College re
ceives its support and" student
from the Christian Churches of the
Northwest. The quartet travels
among the Churches of the North
west to interest prospective stu
dents in attending the College, and
to call the needs of the school to
the attention of the members of
the Christian Churches. This Col
lege is located in Eugene. Ore
gon. The quartet is composed of Sen
Swanson, of Los Angeles, Califor
nia, bass; Laurie Burghgrdt, of
Eugene, Oregon, first tenor;- Mer
lin Moon, of Milton-Preewater,
Oregon, second tenor: and Dick
Kneeland, of Los Angeles, Cali
fornia, baritone. The boys special
ize in sacred music, but they also
sing some secular numbers.
The quartet is accompanied by
E. M. Eldridge, Field Representa
tive of the College, who will bring
a short message on th'e -elation-ship
of the Christian College to the
Churches. Eldridge has spent most
of his life as a business man and
approaches the importance of lh
Christian College from the view
point of the layman. You will want
to hear this splendid group. ,
The quartet will be heard in a
concert of sacred music at the
WesUide Christian Church, Har
vard and Broccoli, Roseburg, on
Sunday evening, 7:30, Oct. 24th.

ents may attend the previously
all - white Milford (Del.) High
School returned to the Court of
Chancery today. '
Vice Chancellor William Marvel
has already ruled that Negroes
have the right to attend the Mil
ford school.
The question before him today
was should he grant an injunction,
requested by the National Assn.
for the Advancement of Colored
People, to restrain the Milford
School boaroVfrom keeping the Ne
groes out of the high school.
