Mr. and Mrs. Guy Moore hav
returned home from a vacation
visiting relatives and friends in
Washington and Oregon. The
Moores .took Highway 1U1 to Port
Angeles, stopping to visit Mrs.
Moore's brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Holmcr, own
ers and operators of the Holmer
Cafe. They crossed via ferry to
Astoria and then went to Trout
Lake, Wash., to see another brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Roger Coate, who operate a dairy
in that city.
They drove back to Portland to
visit with their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Ashenberner and family. and
Moore's brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Daune Moore. From
Portland they went to Newburg to
see Mrs. Henry Church, a former
teacher in the Camas Valley
schools. They went to Dundee tj
call on Mr. and Mrs. Carl Daley
Mrs. Daley is the former Pol'y
Roberts of Camas Valley, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rob
erts. Their next stop was in 11 c
Minnville to visit with another sis
ter of Mrs. Moore's, Mrs. Frank
Molancy, and then to Fall Creek
to see ah aunt, Miss Minnie Leigh,
before returning home.
SUTHERLIN CHURCH
HONORS PASTOR
AND WIFE AT SHOWER
Last Sunday night after church,
members of the Sulherlin Chris
tain Church, honored Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Bently at a pound shower,
after which refreshments wers
served.
Mr. and Mrs. Bendley cams to
Sutherlin to take over the pastorate
of the church, July 1, from bngle
iwood, Calif.; previously they were
missionaries in Venezuela, for
four years, and were Mexican mis
sionaries for two years. They also
were located at Oaxaca, Mexico
for a time,
Mr. Bentley was graduated from
Eugene Bible University, which is
now Northwest Christian College,
in 1927. Mrs. Bentley is also an
ordained minister, and they have
three sons, two of whom are mar
ried. Mrs. Bentley is a native of
Roseburg, and was the former
Goldie Bruton.

TEENAGE COMMITTEE
MEETS AT MCFALL HOME
The publicity committee of the
Winston-Dillard community teen
age club met Tuesday night at
the home of its advisor, W. C. Me
Fall, in Dillard. They started work
on posters for advertising their
Wednesday night dances and dis
cussed refreshments, new records
for the dancing, and the problems
ot chaperones. The group decided
to hold officer and committee
meetings every other Tuesday eve
ning. Ralph Barker's band still plays
for the Wednesday night dances
and it is hoped that there will
soon be a juke box. Any members
are welcome to come to the com
mittee meetings.
A great need Is expressed for
chaperones. Parents wishing to as

its regular potluck dinner Thurs
day in the social rooms with Mrs

quets of summer flowers formed a
pretty setting for the noon dinner.

and Mrs. Gerald Bently, pastor and

Stebbins, of Redlands, Calif., par
ents of Mrs. Bentley.
Mrs. Leota Hardesty opened the
afternoon meeting with the sink
ing of hymns, followed by devo
tionals by Maczel Scovell. '
Roll call was answered by scrip
ture verses.

clothing had been sent to Okinawa
Christian Mission, and five to the
McKinley Indian Mission at lop
penish, Wash.
A picnic was planned for the
next meeting, Aug. 19, at the Mack
Brown nanc.
During the afternoon the ladies
gave a kitchen shower for Mrs.
Effie Dunning, a recent bride.

group of teenage square dancers
and their instructors from Days
Creek came to join them for the
evening.
The visitors call themselves the
"Hillbilly Stampers" and have
four to six squares of young peo
ple, who dance at the Days Creek
High School. Red and Grace Gid
ley, instructors, brought one square
to practice at the Barn under the
supervision of Curley Reynolds in
order to have it in readiness for
the Douglas County Fair.
Dancers visiting were: Shannon
Gidley, Bob Bobb, Delia Wright,
Jack Gidley, Sandra Fairfield, Jo
anne Ashbaugh, Tenel Simmons,
Jean Fairfield. Wade Worthin'ton
and Howard Dunlap.

years. They drove through Ore

and Wyoming, stopping at Crater
Lake. Yellowstone National park,
Grand Coulee Dam and many
other points of interest.
