Commissioner
Rules Out Part
Of Union Exhibist
WASHINGTON Wl -Federal
Power Commissioner Examiner
William J. Costeflo Wednesday
sustained objections of Idaho Pow
er Co. attorneys and rejected ex
hibits submitted at the Ileus Can
yon hearing by two public power
witnesses.
When attorney R. P. Parrv rro-
tested that proper foundation bad
not been laid for introduction of
the exhibits. Costello ruled oat
portions of testimony by Ed Wes
ton, president of the Washington
State Federation of Labor, and
Samuel Moment, Bonneville ower
Administration market expert.
Weston and Moment were called
by public power attorneys to testi
fy against the Idsho Power Co. "a
application to build three smal
dams on the Snake River near
where a federal dam has been
proposed.
The rejected exhibits included
information on population and un
employment trends.
Weston testified low-cost power
from a federal dam would bring
Northwest to offset seasonal un
employment in the lumber indus
try. He said his dates were pre
pared oy a consulting iirm and
not by him.
Moment'! testimony giving the
background on battles between the
leaerai interior Department and
private power companies over con
struction of federal power trans
mission lines in Montana and
Washington also was stricken.
