Gambling Tax Dodge. Admitted By Spokane Man

of. Spokane entered a plea of
guilty Monday In U.S. district
court here to failure to pay the
federal gambling tax.
A two-count information was
filed against Silverman in March
185s, to which be had entered in
nocent pleaa. It was his plea to
the second count which '.he Spo
kane man changed Monday.
Count one alleges he failed to file
a tax return as a person who ac
cepts wagers as required by law.
He did not change his plea to
tbia count.

Douglbs County and the surround
ing area, reports that the Marine
Corps is now offering new benefits
for any man discharged from the
corps while holding the. rank of
sergeant or oelow.
A man who wis discharged as
a private, private first class, cor
poral or sergeant can be guaran
teed one of ttie three following
options if he reenlisbs in the reg
ular, Marine Corps:
(1) Assignment to duty in the
geographic area of his choice.
(2) Retraining in the military
occupational field of his choice.
(3) Assignment to a school or
course of instruction of his choice.
Oox also says that a man who
was discharged while holding the
rank of sergeant or below ,an
come back on active duty in the
Marine Corps Reserve at his
former rank regardless of his date
of discharge. Returning as a re
serve, he, can be integrated into
the regular Marine Corps on re
quest to his commanding officer.

er information on the above mat

any other persons wno are inter
