The calendar of the Umpqua
School is lull to overflowing with
Christmas programs and parties.
The school Christmas program,
by Hie children, will be presented
on the night of Dec. 22, at 8 p.m.
in the Community nan. uec. ti,
the children of the Sunday school
will go caroling about g p.m.,
then return to the hall where
Uiere will be a Christmas play
put on by a Roseburg cast.
Dec. 20 the Sunday school will
present its Christmas program at
8 p.m. at me nau. uec. j mere
will be a Disney colored, sound
film given at the hall at 8 p.m.
sponsored by the 4-H club.
Families Leave
Clifford and James Thrasher
; have disposed of the China Head
ranch on the joeison noaa. Mr.
and Mrs. James Thrasher have
gone to California and Clifford
Thrasher and bis family are in
Sutherlin.
Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Murphy
and family were guests at a din
ner in Voncalla on Sunday at the
home of Mrs. Meryl Ellison.
Mr. and Mrs. George McCall
have planned for a holiday trip.
Thev leave this week and will go
first to Walnut Creek, Calif., where i
they will spend Christmas with
their youngest son, William, and
his family. They will then go to
Los Angeles, and spend a few
davs visiting their daughter there.
They will fly to the Hawaiian Is
lands to spend several weeKs witn
another son. who is manager of a
large cattle ranch on one of the
islands.
The Umpqua 4-H Club held its
meeting on Dec. 11 at the Commu
nity Hall, with the cooking division
in charge. President Rollie Amer
son conducted the business meet
ing which was closed with songs
led by song leader Norma Peery.
There were 16 guests and 24
club members who shared the re
freshments served by Mrs. Geny
Murphy and Mrs. Flo RipDstcin.
It was decided to dispense of any
further meetings until after the
holidays.
Mrs. Roy Long, who has been
ill for some time, will eo to Port.
land for medical treatment.
