Texas Doctor Named
Year's Practitioner
DENVER Wl Dr. John Maston
Travis, 75, of Jacksonville, Tex.,
was chosen general practitioner of
the year Tuesday by trustees of
the American Medical Association
He was selected from a list of
physicians who had been chosen
family doctor of their states by
their state medical associations.
He is the sixth winner of the
award honoring family doctors
throughout the country. He has
delivered more than 3,000 babies.
The award carries a gold medal
and citation of service to humanity.
Lattimore Faces Grand Jury Probe

vention that a "united front" of
Allied nations on Asian policy is
a necessary preliminary to negoti
ating a successful peace in Korea.
Morse said varied Asia policy
views of the Allied countries is
standing in the way of the peace
efforts.
Morse said supplies and raw
material from non -Communist
countries were reaching Commu
nist China by trans-shipment via
Latin America. He advocated a
tiliht economic boycott to prevent
such shipments.
Morse hailed President-elect
Dwight D. Eisenhower's, choices
for the labor and commerce posts
in the new cabinet.
"As one who has criticized most
of the president-elect's cabinet ap
pointments," Morse said, "I want
to compliment him on the appoint
ment of Martin Durkin as secre
tary of labor and Sinclair Weeks
as secretary of commerce.
"These two able men will direct
those departments of our govern
ment which have most to do with
the industrial pase of our econ
omy. I admire both and have a
great deal of confidence in their !
fairness and in their enlightened
understanding."
Morse also urged the CIO to
merge with the AFL. as did sec
retary of Labor Maurice Tobin in
a convention speech Monday.
