Yoncalla Voters
To Decide Water
Issue On Ballot
By MRS. GEORGE EDES
The Yoncalla city council adopt
ed a resolution Tuesday, Oct. 7,
to place two measures on the Nov.
4 ballot.
Adoption of the resolution fol
lowed considerable discussion of
the inadequate water controversy.
The first measure will be to bor
row $114,000 for a new water sys
tem in the form of bonds, which
will be repaid through water rev
enues. Moneys received will be
used to install a new reservoir,
storage facilities, a new site and
a complete new water system of
mains and laterals to bring the
water layout up to date.
The second measure will be for
$24,000 to furnish money to build
a water filtration site and plant.
Payment would be through reve
nues as on the other measure.
Suppoitcrs of the measures say
that if passed the city would be
able to supply everyone with as
much water as they want anytime
of the year and there should never
be any rationing or limiting of
water during the summer months.
This would also provide with pos
sible lower fire insurance rates
and increase the value of property.
Names on Ballot
The following names will be on
the ballot for Yoncalla city coun
cil members. Two councilmen po
sitions are open with Jean Cowan,
Norman Stapleinan, Charles Hed
gers and Claude Daugherty run
ning for the positions Only one
name has been filed for mayor,
Lee Blickenstaff, with Mrs. Ber
nice Hadtke running lor recorder
treasurer. Al Hoiiman, principle of the
Yoncalla Grade School requested
that several blocks of the city be
closed during class hours for safe
ty purposes. The request was
granted with the street from the
Ann'e Kmc residence to the Otto
Schieman home closed.
