The Busy Stepperi met at the
home of Bertha Dossey (or an all
day meeting and delicious potluck
luncheon recently.
Members present were: Anna
Ireland, Pauline Gore, Adda Olli
vant, Clemmie Prock, Mabel
Roberts, Irene and Allen, and the
hostess. Bertha Dossey and chil
dren. ,
Prizes were won by Clemmie
Prock and Anna Ireland.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Clemmie Prock
August 7.

HOLD BUSINESS SESSION
The Women of the Moose held
the first meeting of the current
year with Hazel Jameson, senior
regent, presiding. Committee proj
ects and plans for the year's ac
tivities were outlined and discuss
ed. Recorder Lucille Crow an
nounced that a conference is
scheduled by the Women of the
Moose in conjunction with the
State Moose Convention to be held
at Corvallis, July 25, 26 and 27.
Verna Koop presented pictures of
the recent installation of officers
and a colored slide photo of the
float at the Rose Festival parade
was shown by Irene Routledge.
The theme, "Child City, Moose
heart, Illinois" featured Barbara
Peterson, Moose Centennial prin
cess. Refreshments were served at
the close of the meeting by the
executive committee. Each 'mem
ber is asked to bring a birthday
gift for Evelyn Kuper, the Chap
ter's little girl at Mooseheart, to
DISABLED VETERANS
ANNOUNCE PICNIC DATE
On July 27, 11 a.m., all members
of Dean-Perrine Post and Unit
No. 9, DAV, are invited to attend
a picnic given by the Disabled
American Veterans and Auxiliary
No. 11 at Grants Pass Park,
Grants Pass. Those attending are
requested to bring table service.
There will be no meeting of Post
No. 9 and unit until August 7.

CIRCLE HAS SESSION
The UmDaua Grove No. 51 of the
Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle
held an Interesting meeting Mon
day night, July 7. All officers but
two were present. Three new mem-
I bers were balloted on to be taken
'into the lodge. They are Mrs. At
tn ira Dyer, Mrs. Evelyn Black ana
Ruby Dorrah. Mrs. Isabel Holm
was Riven the obligation. Mrs. Viv
ian Borgaes, president, conducted
the business meeting. All commit
tee chairmen gave reports of their
activities. Mrs. Lucy Benson was
appointed chairman of the investi
gating committee to replace Mrs.
Bette Simpson who recently moved
to California.
Mrs. Phebe McGuire, district
manager, gave a detailed account
of the recent accomplishments of
the "Good of the Society" commit
tee. A going away handkerchief
shower was given in honor of Mrs.
Rosemary Wight who left for New
Mexico and Mrs. Bette Simpson
who moved to Visalia, Calif. A
gift was presented to Mrs. Helen
Finley at a pink and blue shower
party. Two decorated cars were
driven in the Sheriff's Posse Ro
deo parade carrying a large ban
ner for the Supreme Forest Wood
men Circle. Mrs. McGuire, In her
report, said she had received a
wire from state manager, Mrs. Zel
da K. Puckett, stating that the
State had gone "over the top" m
new members, because of the in
stituting of the new Umpoua Grove.
Mrs. Puckett has recently return
ed from the state managers meet
ing at Omaha, Nebr.
Mrs. Besse Lounsbury was wel
comed back into the order follow
in? recent surgery.
The roller skating club meeting
was announced for Tuesday night.
Mrs. Helen Finley was appointed
chairman of the sick and distress
rommiftee. Mrs. Jo Lesher. re
freshment chairman, announced
the next three members to serve
were Mrs. Bunny Alberhis, Mrs.
Lucy Benson and Mrs. Peggv Ben
son. It was decided to have officer's
meeting the second Wednesday in
the month.
WOODMEN CIRCLE FFTES
MRS. PHEBE MCGUIRE
The officers and chairmen of the
Umpqua Grove of the Supreme
Forest Woodmen Circle were en
tertained at the home of the district
manager. Mrs. Phebe McGuire,
Wednesday night at 8 o'clock. Dur
ing the business session conducted
by Mrs. McGuire, she encouraged
all committees to get together to
work out problems. Welfare com
mittee, with Mrs. Reba Buttler,
chairman, Mrs. Albcrtus and Mrs.
Willis are making tentative plans
for future projects. The "Good of
the Society" committee with Mrs.
Jessie Thomas as chairman assist
ed by Mrs. Rosa Heinbach and
Mrs. Isabel Hathaway were sched
uled to hold a meeting at the home
of Mrs. Hathaway Monday after
noon. After the committee reports
were discussed, the group studied
regular meeting procedure, as out
lined by the district manager, Mrs.
McGuire.
The ladies agreed to help the
men Sunday vafternoon after the
institution of the Omaha Woodmen
Camp No. 55.
