and 5 p.m., according to an an

11 Counselors
Are Announced
For Camp Tyee
Eleven counselors will have their
hands full taking care of over 400
Roseburg area Camp Fire girls
during the next.six weeks at Camp
Tyee.
Work started for them Sunday
when the first 65 campers arrived
at the Camp Fire Girls camp, lo
cated 28 miles from Roseburg on
the North Umpqua River.
Program director is Mary Lynn
Holm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Holm, Route 4. She'll be a
sophomore next year at Lewis and
Clark College in Portland. Another
local gal, Bernice Lounsbury,
daughter of Mrs. Bessie Louns
bury, 501 Overlook, will teach
swimming. She's a physical edu
cation major also at Lewis and
Clark.
Other senior counselors are Car
la Lee Taylor and Buelah John
son, both of Roseburg; Gilda Hoi
derman, Ontario, formerly of Rose
burg; Bevcri Wild, Grants Pass;
and Evelyn Wickman, Eugene.
Junior counselors are Shirley
White, Roseburg; Jeanine Conn
and Claudette Manning, Melrose;
and Mary Alice Bunch, Elkton.
The six-week camping period is
divided into six sessions, with
about 70 girls expected for each,
Edward Ziegler
Dies Sunday
Edward Upton Ziegler. 51, of
Camas Valley died auddenly at
home early Sunday morning.
Born Aug. 24. 1900, at Portland
he was married to Myrtle Wolcott
at Vancouver, Wash., Sept. 24,
1941. He made his home at Port
land until four years ago when he
moved to Camas Valley to engage
in farming.
Funeral services will be at the
chapel of Long and Orr Mortuary
at 10 a.m. DST, Tuesday. Christian
Science services will be read by
Harry Wallen, reader of the rirst
Church Christ, Scientist, Roseburg.
Concluding services and inter
ment will follow in Lincoln Mem
orial Park at Portland Wednesday.
Survivng are his widow, Mrs.
Myrtle Ziegler, and stepson, Glenn
Wolcott, of Camas Valley; hit
mother, Mrs. Amelia Ziegler, Ore

BOY CUTS EYE
Roland Moorehouse, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Leon J. Moorehouse,
Route One, Box 1090, Roseburg,
was treated Saturday at Mercy
Hospital for a cut over his right
eye suffered In a fall while playing.

west. This plant, which will be
opened in Portland Aug. 7, makes
the paper containers used by many
of Oregon's milk distributors.
Charlie, his sponsors report, will
tell the Roseburg audience that

Adrian Gibby, 16,
Succumbs Here
Adrian Edgar Gibby. 18, student
of the Roseburg Senior High
School, died Saturday after a lung
illness. He was born April IS, 1936
in Blackfoot, Ida., and came with
his parents to Roseburg aix
years ago. Ht attended the Rose
burg schools and would have
been a sophomore this fall. He
was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints;
the FFA, Boy Scouts of America
and the Roseburg High School Jr.
Band.
Surviving are his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. David . Gibby, Rose
burg; and six brothers, Paul H.
Gibby of Pocatello. Idaho; Mar
low D. Gibby of Provo, Utah and
Roseburg; Raymond W.. Leo U.,
Aaron J., and George W. Gibby,
all of Roseburg.
Funeral services wiil be held in
The Chapel of The Roses. Rose
burg Funeral Home, Wednesday,
July 16, at 11 a.m. with Elder C.
W. Bagley officiating. Interment
will follow in the Masonic Cemetery.

Two More Polio Cases I
In Umorillo County '
PENDLETON I Two more
cases of polio appeared In Uma
tilla County Saturday, bringing the
total to eight in the last two weeks.
Dr. E. E. Berg, county health
officer, said both of the cases were
in the east end of the county,
where all but two of the cases
have occurred. The other two were
in the area south of Pendleton.
None has been fatal.
There were 14 cases in the
county in 1951.

Mishaps Kill 7
In Washington

Accidental death claimed the
lives of seven Washington state
residents over the weekend. Four
drowned and three were killed in
traffic accidents.
The victims:
Zenichi J. Kato.' 21. of Seattle,
who was found dead in his bed
Sunday morning, several hours
after his car went out ol control
and struck a power pole and ram
med into some parked cars. The
accident happened in Seattle.
Martin Jacobsen, 28, Seattle,
died Sunday of injuries suffered
late Saturday when he lost control
of his motorcycle he was riding,
skidded 200 feet and struck a util
ity pole. Jacobsen was thrown 80
teet by the impact.
Omar Buckles. 67. Wapato. who
was drowned in an irrigation canal
west of Wapato Saturday when he
lost control of his automobile while
backing it down a hill. The car
plunged into the ditch. ,
John t. Honderenko, 44, Spok
ane, drowned .Saturday when he
fell from a lo,T at Bear Lake, near
Chatteroy, Wash. Bonderenko's
body was recovered.
Larry Aden Peters. 14. Tacoma,
drowned in a lake near Eatonville
Sunday during a family picnic. His
body was not recovered. The two
other youths, Willis Hunt Jr. and
Kenneth Emmil, were rescued, i
Gail Farmer, 6, Renton. drowned
in Lake Sammainish, near Seattle,
Sunday while taking swimming
lessons from her mother, Mrs.
William Farmer. The child's bodv
was recovered later by sheriff's
deputies.

Grange Nets $155

The Camas Valley Grange held
its regular business meeting on
July 8. Brunette Wilson, home ec
onomics chairman, announced that
$155.19 was cleared from the cele
bration on the Fourth of July.
There will be a dance on the
Grange floor July 19. On July 22
there will be an old-fashioned
pound party for Mrs. M. D.
Brown at the Grange building,
with entertainment after t h e
pounding.
Another dance will be held on
Aug. 2 on the Grange floor.
Mr. and Mrs. Milo Claughton
were put in charge of the Grange
booth for the County Fair.
