the steel Industry crisis,
"Some mistakes were made be
fore it reached him," the mutual
security administrator declared at
a news conference, "but I think he
handled it right after It reached
him."

take over the industry to keep it
from being closed by a strike an
order which the Supreme Court
later threw out.
He said the CIO Stcelworkers
Union had held off on its strike

President's request, "and I think

night at a Democratic Party ban
quet in Tacoma, said he endorsed
"all the principles of Franklin D,
Roosevelt, as carried out by Presl

Woodworkers Vote
"Yes" On New Contract
SEATTLE Wl CIO woodworkers
on strike in Western Washington
since April 29 were slated to re
turn to their jobs Tuesday.
Karly Larson, president of Dis
trict 2 of the CIO International
Woodworkers of America Union,
said Monday night union locals
have agreed to terms of i contract
drawn up Saturday after marathon
union-management bargaining ses
sions. It included a 7 '"4 cent hour wage
increase, higher night differential
pay, improved Vacation benefits
and an employer-financed health
and welfare fund managed jointly
by management and the union.
The wage increase is subject to
approval by the Wage Stabilisation
Board.
