JUNE BRIDE A very lovely wedding of the month took place in CorvaMis, when Donna
Belle Mitchell, above, became the bride of Milton Zan Dickinson. The bride is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Mitchell of R oseburg and the bridegroom is the son of Dr.
and Mrs. E. M. Dickinson of Corvallis. The wedding was an event of June 15. (Picture

One of the loveliest weddings of
the year took place June 15 when
Miss Donna Belle Mitchell,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E.
Mitchell of Roseburg, became the
bride of Milton Zan Dickinson, son
of Dr. and Mrs. E. M. Dickinson
of Corvallis. The ceremony, a
double ring, was performed at the
Good Samaritan Episcopal Church
in Corvallis. The Rev. Charles Ne
ville officiated.
The church was decorated with
pink gladioli in white baskets on
. each side of the altar and on each
side of the entrance to the sanc
tuary. Mrs. Charles Neville played
the organ softly preceding the
ceremony. Miss Nancy Allworth,
soloist, sang "The Wedding Pray
er" and "With This Ring."
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father, L. E. Mitch
ell. She was attired in a ballerina
length full skirt of embroidered
white organdy with a bridal veil
of French illusion and a cap of
embroidered organdy. She carried
a bouquet of pink roses surround
ed by white stcphanotis. Carol
Winslow, a close friend of the bride
from Oswego, Ore., was maid of
honor. She wore a ballerina length
lavender organdy dress wilh a lav
ender taffeta sash and a large pic
JUDGE SHEARER VISITS A very interesting visitor. In Roseburg this week is Judge
Kotheryn Shearer of Forks, Wash., who is t he housequest of Mr. and Mrs. 0. A. Lange
at 221 E. Commercial Avenue. Judge Shearer is the only woman police jjudge in Wash
ington.. She was appointed to the position Feb. 1. The Shearer and Lange families

dresses. Nancy Bennett, sorority
sister of the bride from Portland,
wore a ballerina length green or
gandy with a taffeta sash and a
large picture hat of the same
color. Joyce Meyer, another soror
ity sister, also wore a ballerina
length yellow organdy dress wilh
taffeta sash and large picture hat
of the same color. Miss Bennett
tarried peach gladioli and Miss
Meyer carried pink g'.idioli.
Carl Laucrson, friend of the
couple, was best man. Robert Ben
nett una Joe Wettiiirbee, friends
of the couple, wero ushers. Both
ushers are from Corvallis. All the
men wore navy blue suits with
white carnations.
The bride's mother wore navy
blue nylon afternoon dress wih
notching accessjries. The bride
groom's mother woro an aqua
summer suit with white accessor
ies. Her corsage was of pink and
white.
The reception was held In (he
Parish Hall of the church for 120
quests. Decorations were of. deep
pink Hector Dean roses arranged
in a large 'crystal eporgne in the
center of the tabl?. The table was

covered with a shadow pattern
white organdy cloth over deep
pink undercloth. The sides and
ends of the cloth were gathered
into loops with pink satin ribbon.
Pouring were Mrs. Dean White
and Miss Mary Lou Phillips. Miss
Billie Adams served. Mrs. H. R.
Sinnard and Mrs. F. F. Price were
in charge of the decorations. Miss
Jo Ann Roberts had charge of
the gifts and Miss Bess Celeste
Dickinson had charge of the guest
book.
For traveling, the bride wore a
mustard shantung dress with
brown and tan accessories. Fol
lowing a honeymoon trip to Ocean
Lake at the Oregon Coast, the
couple will be at home at Campus
Court, Corvallis.
The bride attended Oregon State
College and is a member of Alpha
Chi Omega. The bridegroom is a
senior at Oregon State College. He
was in the Navy for two years
as radar operator with a night
fighter squadron.
Out-of-town guests included: Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Mitchell, brother
and sister-in-law of the bride,
Roscburg; Mrs. Jettie Mitchell,
bride's aunt, Reedsport; Mrs. Ce

One of the loviest weddings of
the season took place June 14 at
eight o'clock in the evening of the
First Methodist Church, when Miss
Raeda Jean Reece, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. C, Fred Reece of
Roseburg, became the bride of
James W. Poirot of Roseburg, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Poirot of
Anchorage, Alaska. Rev. W. A.
MacArthur performed the impres
sive double ring ceremony in the
presence of 200 guests.
The altar decorations were form
ed by baskets of pink and white
gladioli and snpadragons and tall
half per cent molasses diet are

gandy gowns, lighted the candles.
Mis. Paul Oeddes played the
wedding music and accompanied
Harold Mobley, who sang, "Be
cause" and "The Lord's Prayer."
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was lovely in a gown of
white slipper satin fashioned Prin
cess style. A lace panel trimmed
the front of the gdwn and lace
edged the train. She wore a finger
tip veil held in place by a pearl
headdress. She carried a bouquet
of roses, gardenias and stcphanotis.
Miss Joan muter was maid of
honor and wore a gown of ice blue
satin. She wore mitts and a cap of
Chaqtilly lace. Mrs. Les Winders

AT FIELDMILLER HOME

hostess. The minutes were read
and the business meeting follow
ed.
Several contests were enjoyed
by the members. Mrs. Mildred
Booth won two first prizes. Mrs.
Thelma Larson won low prire.

was given at the Junior Division
meeting of the First Christian
Church Tuesday evening at the
home of Mrs. Elsie Coffell honor

to Salem.
The business meeting was held
and the missionary report was
given by Mary Ellen Eaton with
Mrs. Archie Currier giving the de
votions. Following the opening of
Ihe gifts, games were played and
refreshments wore served.

maids and wore gold satin gowns
with ivory colored Chantilly lace
mitts and caps. They carried nose
gays of carnations.
Neil Wissing was best man and
Dan Rarey and Ted Lubyn were
ushers.
A reception followed in the so
cial hall of the church. A white or
gandy cloth over pink graced the
bride's table, which was centered
wit an arrangement of gladioli
and roses, flanked by pink candles.
The three-tiered wedding cake was
served by Mrs. Leslie Miller. Mrs.
Rodney Lundstrum of Portland
served the punch and Mrs. Rich
ard Gadway presided at the coffee
urn. Assisting at the reception were
Mrs. Richard Reece, Mrs. Alan
Miller, Miss Susan Motschenbach
er and Miss Janice Plummer.
For traveling the bride chose a
white linen suit with pink acces
sories. Following the reception,
the bride and bridegroom left for
Anchorage Alaska, where they will
remain until September, when they
will go to Corvallis to make their
home.
' The bride attended Oregon State
College and at the time of her
marriage was employed as secre
tary to Rev. W. A. MacArthur. The
bridegroom is a senior at Oregon
State College.
JACKIE McLENNAN IS
HONORED ON BIRTHDAY
Jackie McLennan's twelfth birth
day was the inspiration for a gala
party and family celebration, Fri
day afternoon, May 30. Mr. and
Mrs. Norman McLennan of Los
Angeles arrived earlier Friday in
honor of the special occasion. The
party was held in the large Mc
Lennan patio which was gaily dec
orated throughout in the "cowboy
western style motif.", Games were
played. Many lovely gifts were
presented the honored guest from
his relatives and friends.
The sumptuous supper was
served at five o'clock and includ
ed a wcinor roast, and regular
Western style supper. The supper
was completed with ice-cream and
birthday cake. The cake was ar
tistically decorated by a Rcie
burg bakery to harmonize with the
Western Theme.
The children participating in the
fun were: Floyd White, Gary
Strom, Gregory Wight, James
Slack, Larry Troyer, Richard
Slack. Arlyss Dunham, Johnny Wil
ton, Claudie Wilton, Patricia and
Suzanne McLennan and the honor

day afternoon at her home. Mrs.
