Signs New Pact
0R0VILI.E, Calif. W - The first
break In the Northern California
lumber workers strike came Mon
day as High Sierra Pine Mills,
Inc., signed a new contract with
the CIO union.
The contract covers the company
mill here, employing about 200, and
the mill at Grayeagle, Plumas
County, whtye 150 are employed.
Most other mills In Northern
California are struck, part of the
walkout of nearly 40,000 members
of the International Woodworkers
Unitli in four states.

mittee. The new contract Increases
wages 7 W cents an hour. The
men will get three more paid holi
days. If they work holidays they
get straight time plug time and
one-half. The rules qualifying work
ers for vacation were simplified.
If a man is on the company list
three years he gets a two-week
paid vacation.
