MELROSE CAMP FIRE
CROUP ENTERTAINS
AT GRANGE MEETING
The Melrose Camp Fire group,
sponsored by the Grange, led by
Mrs. Poole and assisted by Mrs.
Fred Becker, put on a short pro-
ine last Tuesday nite., consisting
of a skit and several songs. Girls
taking part were: Uonna Graves,
Joan Kennerly, Ginger Kettleman
Deloris and Irene Poole, Frances
and Joyce Becker and Sally Brown.
A program will be held Friday
May 10 at the Hall to raise funds
for 4-H scholarships. The Pie So
cial sponsored by the Grange will
be held Friday, May 2. The public
is invited. Games and cards wui
be enjoyed. Following the regular
business meeting, refreshments
were served by Lorraine Veenstra
and Alma Greer.

EXTENSION HAS MEETING
The Winston-Dillard Home Ex
tension unit met at the home of
Mrs. Letita Halverson Wednesday
afternoon, April 16. In charge of
the day's program were Mrs
Fran Holtcen and Mrs. Jean Tab
er. During the demonstration on
"Home Accessories" the two proj
ect leaders rearranged furniture
showing how good balance could
be achieved in tne nome.
At the close of the meeting re
freshments were served to the fol

officers will be conducted at this
meeting, and all members
urged to attend.

Street. All members are requested
to be present and bring their own
table service.

Club was received asking the Busy
Steppers to be guests of the club
Thursday, April 24, for a luncheon.

The beginners group of the
Swingeroo Dance Club will hold
their first meeting and dance
Tuesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. at
Edenbower gym. Dues will be col
lected for the coming six-week
period.

HAVE RECENT MEETING
The DeMolay Mothers Club met
at the home of Mrs. Aurelia Mc-
Gehey Monday evening with Mrs.

Mrs. Ada McFall presided over
tne business meeting. A cooked
food sale was discussed and it was
decided to hold the sale Saturday,
April 26 at Emery Insurance Com
pany office.
Mrs. Leita Raines won the door
prize.
A social hour followed and the
hostess served lovely refreshments
to Mrs. Vehela Geddes, Mrs. Ethel
White, Mrs. Wanda Ware, Mrs.

ROSEBURG ART ASSN.
PLAN WORK DISPLAY
The Roseburg Art Association
met Tuesday night in the attractive
new art room of the High School Li
brary and Arts Building for a work
nht and business meeting. The
business meeting was opened by the
president, Lenord Kimbrell. Plans
were made for the Roseburg Art
Association to sponsor and help
with the High School Art Exhibit
In May at which time the students'
work for the year will be displayed.
Plans were made for making
large frames for displaying the stu
dents work. The Roseburg art group
win lurnisn cookies, tea and cof
ee for visitors of the exhibit. This
exhibit is to be of high school stu
dent' work only and will be in the
Library and Arts Building.
Plans were made for a guest
night at the next meeting of the
Roseburg Art Association May 30
at which time all interested in art
are invited. Howard Glazer of Eu
gene has been invited to be guest
speaker. Other interesting features
such as demonstration of different
kind of art are also being planned
for guest night, according to Mrs.
Jack West, vice president.
Mr. Grazer will speak on mod
ern architecture and furniture and
will also show slides.
OLALLA-TENMILE HOME
EXTENSION UNIT TO
MEET TOMORROW
The Olalla-Tenmile Home Ex
tension Unit will meet Tuesday at
the ladies clubhouse in Tenmile.

WOMEN'S CLUB MEETS
The Associated Business Wom
en's Club met Monday evening at
8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Lu
cille Chriss, on East Fifth Ave
nue for a regular monthly meet
ing. Bouquets of spring flowers
were placed about the rooms.
The business' meeting was call
ed to order by Hie president, Mrs.
Donga Dean Blakeley, and was
turned over to the co-chairmen,
Mrs. Doris Steinbach and Mrs.
Lochie Thompson, of the Flower
Show. All committees and various
other plans were completed and
the ladies worked on the making
of containers for displaying the
flowers. .
A discussion was had on the
giving of prizes and it was de
cided to give cash'certificates for
first prizes and a plant for sec
ond prize. The certificates can be
used at any of the three nurseries
in Sutherlin.
Mrs. Freda Paynter was given
the club obligation and welcomed
as a new member into the club.
The social hour was spent in the
playing of several games. The car
guessing game was won by Mrs.
Meredith Pond: the kitchen uten
sil game, by Mrs. Olga Bielman.
Mrs. Bielman was the winner of
the door prize.
1 The next meeting will be held
at the 'nome of Mrs. Lina Torrey,
with Mrs. Dolores Jackson, Mrs.
Ivena Halverson, and Mrs. Elea
nor Anderson, as co-hostesses.
Mrs. Laura Welsh, was pleasant
ly surprised with a lovely gift
from the members of the club,
as she is leaving Sutherlin the
end of the woek foe Portland,
where she ana her husband plan
to make their home. Pictures
were taken as the gift was pre-
senctd and when the package was
opened.
At the close of the evening the
hostesses, Mrs. Carl Chriss, Miss
Carol Sue Hunt, Mrs. Dorcas Hoag-
land and Mrs. Juamta Atteroury,
served tasty refreshments to:

ing Club was held April 16 at the
