HOLDS CHRISTMAS PARTY
The annual Christmas party of!

decorated in gay holiday trim

Rev. Fell gave the Crhristmas
story and there was an exchange
of gifts. Refreshment! were served
by the hostesses.

Christmas tree and other holiday
decorations added a note of joy
and cheer to the occasion. After
a pleasant evening of visiting and
games, refreshments were served.

hold their regular meeting Tues
day, Jan. 8, with a dessert-lunch

TUESDAY MEETING AT
CARTER HOME IN ROSEBURG
Badoura club. Daughters of the
Nile, will meet at the home of
Mrs. W. H. Carter, IMS Harvard
at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday. A dessert
supper will be served. There will
be an election of officers with re
ports of retiring officers on tne
year's work. All members are
urged to be present.
MIDWEEK BIBLE CLASS
HOLDS THURSDAY SESSION
The Midweek Bible class of St.
Paul's Lutheran church met Thurs
day at the parish house.
A new visiting committee was
formed to aid the Pastor in meet
ing and welcoming newcomers
and strangers to the congregation.
The congregational voters meet
ing will be Sunday, Jan. 13, imme
diately following the 11 o'clock
service. A potluck luncheon will
be served by the ladies of the
Bible class. Mrs. Walter Nehring
is chairman for the potluck.
It was voted to buy the congrega
tion a new Pulpit Bible, as the
present one is very badly worn.
The present officers were unan
imously re-elected.
An interesting discussion and
study of the first chapter of Mark
was followed by the benediction.
Mrs. Millard Ritmann assisted
by Mrs. Art Rietmann served re
freshments. The February meeting will ne
at the parish house on the 14th with
Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Sylwester as
co-hostesses.
LADY ELK'S CHRISTMAS
PARTY HELD THUR5DAY
The Lady Elk's held a Christ
mas nartv Thursday. Dec. 27. at
the Elks lounge.
A short business meeting was
held and gifts were exchanged
around the Christmas tree.
Cards were played and those win
ning prizes included: bridge, high.

The Garden department of the
Woman's club will meet for a 6:30
o'clock potluck dinner Tuesday
evening at the clubhouse. Hus
bands are to be the special guests.
Members asked to bring covered
dish, salad or dessert. Hostesses
will be Mrs. Bertha Austin, Mrs.
Frank Ashley and Mrs. Leland
Van Allen. Films and talks on
"Basic Foundation Planting," by
an outside speaker will be given.
Roll call will be answered by the
topic, "My Favorite Brid."
TURKEY DINNER HELD
ON NEW YEAR'S DAY
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Christie
entertained with a turkey dinner
at their home on New Year's Day.
Those enjoying the affair were
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Henry and
son, Scott, of Umpqua; Mr. and
Mrs. Fredrick Broszio and chil
dren, Ryland, Maria and Connie
of Wilbur and Mr. and Mrs. Phil
lip Scallon and children, Sherry,
Phillip Jr., and Mark of Umpqua.
The evening was spent in visit
ing and playing cards.

The Jolly Thimble club met
Dec. 20 at the Melrose school. The
business meeting was held. The
club enjoyed their Christmas party

4-H meeting and joined them in
