Bill Bloom walked off with high
honors (or the evening by scoring
SO points out of a possible 54 for
one id. The top four scores for
men and women lor tne evening
were:
Bill Bloom. 518: Earl Ullrich,
494; Al Holt,- 482; Ted Hunter,
433; Ruth Uigoy, w; nainryn
Ullrich, 388; Dorothy Ballou 368
and Elaine Foster, 342.
These scores are the result of
thirteen ends, and it will be nec
essary to shoot fifteen ends to
enter in the national tourney
by mail.
Junior members of the group
are still engaged in practice, but
it is expected that within the
next two or- three weeks they
will start keeping scores in order
to record their progress. -
The club will meet as . usual
on Wednesday, Dec 26, and all
a picture that will be taken for
members are urged to attend tor
a national magazine. .
Earl Ullrich, who has been ap
pointed technical advisor and tar
get captain, states that at the
next meeting all archers will have
their targets assigned to them.

Message Of Pope
May Point To 21
New Cardinals
VATICAN CITY. CP) The
annual Christmas eve message of
Pope Piul XII to the college of
cardinals Monday may indicate
whether a consistory will be held
soon to fill the 21 vacancies in
the .sacred college. Vatican
sources are saying one may be
held in the early spring.
The pope will receive the car
dinals' traditional Christ
mas greetings at 10:30 a.m. (4:30
a. m.. EST). His renlv will ha
broadcast to the world.
In 1945. with the college of car
dinals down to 38 members, the
Vatican on Dec. 23 announced the
names of 32 new princes of the
church to bring the membership
to full1 strength of 7a The next
day, in his Christmas message,
the pontiff told the cardinals his
reasons for fortifying the college.
The consistory was held in Feb
ruary, 1946.
Today there are only 49 car
dinals. Death has claimed 21.
One, Josef Cardinal Mindstenty,

mains the only living cardinal
in the vast ara dominated by the

Cordon said the situation "ab
