The Roses split up some weeks

Miss Matthews is the former wife

tree sales have entered the Ore
gon farm forest products mirtot
report. The report, issued weekly
by the Oregon State colleg exten
sion service, said the trees brought
10 cents each in the woods near
Eugene.
Other asriects of the reoort :
DOUGLAS FIR SAWLOGS re
mained steady inspite of a weal
lumber market. The small volume
of logs available met with very
good demand. Second-growth logs
over 24 feet long brought $38 to $40
a thousand board feet for No. 3
sawlogs, $48 to $50 for No. 2's, and
$60 for No. l's. Camp run logs
were mostly $40 to $42 a thou
sand. 12 to 24 foot logs ranged
irom $JS to $48 a thousand with
some foot-hills mills paying down
to $32. 8-foot logs down to 6-inch
diameter were steady at $15 to
$18 a cord or $32 to $40 a thou
sand. OLD-GROWTH SAWLOGS were
$60 I thousand for No. l's, $50 for
No. 2 s, and $40 for No. 3 s.

Peelers were $75 to $110 according
PULPWOOD: Northern and cen
tral valley pulp mills paid $17 a
cord for unpcelcd spruce, hem
lock and true fir. Peeled, spruce
brought $20 a cord and other spec
ies were $19. Douglas fir was in
fair to good demand at $14 to $17 a
cord unpeeled, or $5.90 a ton.

cents i lineal foot for 20-foot poles
to 43 cents for 100-foot lengths.
40-foot poles brought 13 to 18 cents
a loot ana ou-toot poles were zu
to 26 cents. Pilings ranged from
25 to 43 cents a foot for 20 to 100
lenghts.
CEDAR POLES In the northern
valley ranged from $2.75 each for
small 25-foot poles up to $45 each
for 75-foot poles.
tiAKDWUUD lugs: Hardwoods
were mostly $34.50 to $37.50 a thou
sand. A few mills paid up to $45.
Cottonwood was $24 to $30 a thou
sand. OTHER FOREST PRODUCTS:
Demand for car stakes exceeded
the supply at 50 cents each in the
central valley. Hop poles were in
strong demand in the same area
at $1 to $1.15 for Douglas fir and
$1.75 each for cedar poles. The
fir cone harvest was almost
ended, with white fir cones at 4
cents a pound, and Douglas fir at
4 cents.

dents who announced they "refuse
to live any place but in a town
named "Wallula" said they would
build a new and better town.
Wallula is Washington's second
oldest community. It is located at
the entrance of Wallula gap on the
Columbia river.
Railroad operations have consti
tuted the town's one and only in
dustry. Such operations are now
centered at the new Hinkle termi
nal in Oregon and at a point up
the Columbia river In Walla Willi
county of Washington.
So approximately 25 Wallula
families, many of whom have
spent most of their lives in the
shadow of old Fort Walla Walla
nearby, will move their homes
about two miles northeast of the
present town and as close to the
existing community of Attalia as
they can get,
"We have no doubt that the new
town will grow," a spokesman said
Friday night. "There will be rail
road operations, a reclamation
