AZALEA GRANGE
HOLDS INTERESTING.
SESSION RECENTLY
The Azalea Grange held its
mneting Oct. 19. This was an open
meeting for the community and
was attended by a number of per
sons interested in flood control of
Cow Creek.
Mr. Stewart and Mr. Shoemaker
slate engineers gave talks
on the subject of flood control
and of keeping the creek free from
debris. Mr. Studley of Glendale
also spoke.
Several questions were asked
the engineers after which the mas
ter of the Grange. James Croff,
gave a short address and re
quested all members to be pres
ent at Ihe Grange Nov. 2.
After the meeting the Grang
ers and their guests were served
refreshments.
FOLK DANCING TO
BE HELD TUESDAY
Folk dancing will be held at
two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at
the veterans recreational hall in
charge of American Legion auxil
iary department of Oregon.

MEETING RECENTLY
The Douglas County committee
of Home Extension units met
Thursday, Oct. 25 at the home of
Mrs. Irvin Rice of Rice Valley.
A potluck luncheon was enjoyed
iu th committee members.
Those present were: Mrs. Daisy
Fox, Miss Neida Norris, Mrs. Car
rie Shrum, Mrs. Muriel Munson,
Mrs. Lou Cunningham and the
hostess, Mrs. Rice.
Mrs. Addie Ollivant was absent
due to unforeseen circumstances.
The Home Extension agent, Miss
Betty Jane Patterson, was unable
to attend.
All units of Douglas county are
urged to compete in the contest
of designing the name plate for
A.ale house. More information
on this will be sent to the unit
chairmen.
Word has been received that the
Winchester Bay unit has reorgan
ized under the name of Western
Douglas unit. A group of women
that have done splendid work in
the past belong.
Thorn will he a ornsram man
ning day in Koscburg, Oct. 30 in
Ihe K.P. hall. There should be a
member of each unit, under the
heading of program planning
chairman and all county commit
tee members are asked to be
present.
The next county meeting will
be held at the home of Mrs. Daisy
Fox, at Winston, Nov. 29.
GLENDALE WCTU HOLDS
FELLOWSHIP MEETING
The Glendale WCTU held a fel
lowship meeting at the Presby
terian church recently and enter
tained Mrs. C. N. Currier, Mrs.
R. D. Knigge, Mrs Ada Davis,
Mrs. Edith P. Ackert, Mrs. Ben
B. Irving. Mrs. W. J. Adair, Mrs,
Clarke L. Smith and son, Stanley
from Roseburg; Mrs. C. h. Dewey,
Mrs. N. M. McKeel and Mrs. E.
A. Oldenburg from Azalea and
Mrs. Iiibcrt E. Gaedecke from
Glendale.
Members present were: Mrs,
Amanda Garrett, Jennie Allen,
Irene Dobyns, Nora Gaedecke,
Amy Gray, Joyce Mill, Irene
Jantzer, Mina Johnson, ray Mar
tin, Mary LaProth, Myrtle Young
and Ada Ames.
A potluck luncheon was served
at noon and was followed by the
business meeting during which the
WCTU convention and the WCTU
Children's Farm Home were discussed.

HOLDS DECORATING
SESSION RECENTLY
Beta Gamma chapter, Epsilon
Si?ma Alpha met recently at the
home of Mr. Marvin Doty for an
interior decorating class Jed by
Mrs. Dean Ross. Mrs. Rosa is in
structing the group in the con
struction and decorating of a
model eight room home. Upon
completion of the home it will
be exhibited at the 1951 Oregon
State sorority convention.
Reports were given from var
ious room committees and special
instruction was taken up by Mrs.
Ross.
Committee leaders for the model
home are: Mrs. Sidney Corley,
living and dining rooms; Mrs.
Dale Roles, bedrooms and baths;
Mrs. Robert Sullivan, kitchen and
playrooms.
Later refreshments were served

ROSEBURG JUNIOR WOMAN'S
CLUB HOLDS OINNER
The Roseburg Junior Woman's
club met Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the
home of Mrs. Bonnie Holcomb o
South Jackson for a 7:00 p.m. pot
luck dinner. The rooms were beau
tifully decorated with fall flow
ers. A short business meeting fol
lowed the dinner. The Douglas
county centennial which will be
held in Roseburg in 1952 was dis
cussed, as was the club's doll sale
to be held in downtown location

Powell gave a short talk on the
Grey Ladies and other ways the
club might be of help to the Vet
erans hospital. Visiting was en
joyed for the remainder of the
evening.

FIRE GROUP MEETS
The Ta-WanKa Camp Fire
group had a party in the lunch
room at Rose school Monday. The
members had refreshments of
cider doughnuts, cookies and a
cake. When they were through
they played a "rhythm" game.
They sang songs and then a 1 1
joined hands in singing "The Call ,
of the Fire." 1
