the management of both the Rain
bow cafe and the Shalimar here
in Roseburg. .
Return From Seattle Mrs.
Dean Ross of Roseburg and Mrs.
Owna Barren of Eugene have re
turned to their homes following a
short business trip to Seattle,
Wash.
Vacationer Returns John
Shirley, son of John H. Shirley of
Wilbur, has returned to his home
following a two-week vacation in
California. He visited friends and
relatives in Los Angeles and Santa
Monica.
I must be suffering from brain fafique, Coma. It was
easier to come to work today than to think up an ex
cuse to stay home.

Return Home Mr. and Mrs.
Nicola and their three children of
Newhall, Calif., have returned to
their home following a week's visit
in Roseburg with Mr. and
Mrs. J. B. Roark and their daugh
ters, Pat and Bonnie, and son,
Robert.
Visited Here Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Howard and children, Tom
Jr., Jack and Charlene, of To
ledo, Wash., visited Mrs. Art
Cooper and her daughter, Lila, of
Roseburg. The Howards left
Wednesday for their home. Mrs.
Howard and Mrs. Cooper are sis
ters. Return From Washington Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Travis and chil
dren, Janet, Nancy and David, all
of Roseburg, recently returned
from a trip to Aberdeen, Wash.,
where they visited Mr. Travis'
mother and sister. Mr. Travis is
employed at the post office in
Roseburg.
Continue Journey Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. Hochradel of Roseburg,
their niece, Miss Helen Farring
ton, and a friend of Portland are
continuing their journey in E u
rope. Word has been recieved that
they have just completed a visit
to Italy and are now on their way
to France. The group has been
gone since May.
Return From Vacation Miss
Elaine Undem and Mrs. Louis
Adaski and daughter, Rose Mary,
all of Roseburg have returned to
their home following a three-week
vacation visiting relatives and
friends. Miss Undem traveled to
Rogers, N. D., and Mrs. Adamski
and her daughter visited in Valley
City, N. D.
Vacation Taken Mr. and Mrs.
L. C. Roots of Roseburg have, re
turned from a three-week vaca
tion trip. They first went to Op-
heim. Mont., to visit their son,
Pfc. Robert Roots of the air force
Dolice group stationed near there.

After taking him back to his base,
they continued to Hardtner, Kan.,
to visit Mr. Roots' mother, Mrs,
Lyda Roots. From Hardtner they
went to Thomas, Okla., and vis
ited Mrs. Roots' brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. B. W
Gifford. In Pampa, Tex., they vis
ters, Mrs. Lee Butcher, and In
Shawnee, Okla., they saw still an
other brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Ross McClure. From
Shawnee they returned home. Mr.
and Mrs. Roots are employed at
Herman's Men's store, Roseburg.
Leave on Trip Mr. and Mrs.
Richard S. Mesick of Canyonville
left Friday for Chicago on a va
cation. Move to Oak Hill Apts. Mr.
and Mrs. Fred A. Knight moved
Thursday from 316 W. First street
to Apt 7 in the Oak Hill apart
ments at 481 S. Main street.
Back From Coast Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Harris and children,
Nancy and Jimmy, have returned
to their home in Roseburg, follow
ing a week vacationing at the
coast.
Vacationing Mrs. Norman
Sallee and Miss Shirley Spencer
of Roseburg are spending their va
cation in Los Angeles, San Diego
and San Francisco. They expect to
return here this weekend.
Here Thursday Frank Waller,
reconnaissance engineer for the
state highway department, Salem,
spent Thursday in Roseburg on
business. He is a brother-in.law of
Mrs. . L. Knapp, Roseburg,
Back From Vacation Mr. and
Mrs. Al Kosel have returned to
their home in Roseburg, following
a vacation trip to points of inter
est in Washington. Mr. Kosel is
manager of Craig's in this city.
Visit at McClintock Home N,
F. Gillespie of Centralia, Wash.,
and his son, Graklyn Gillespie,
of Sacramento, Calif., have left
Roseburg, following a visit with
the former's son-in law and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. McClin
tock, in Westmoreland.
Enjoy Trip to Coast Mr. and
Mrs. E. R. Foster and daughter,
Mary Anne, and son, Larry, and
Mr. and Mrs. S. V. O'Reilly and
children, Paddy, Louise, Maureen
and Joan, of Roseburg enjoyed a
trip to coast points Sunday.
Returns to Portland Miss Ruth
Mahoney has returned to her
home in Portland, following a visit
in Roseburg with her brother-in-law
and sister, Mayor and Mrs.
Albert G. Flegel, on East Lane
street.
Parish Picnic A St. Joseph's
parish picnic will start at 10:30
a. m. at the Rod and Gun club
grounds next Sunday. A prize will
be offered to the largest family
present. There will be music,
games and refreshments. Those
attending are asked to bring their
own picnic lunch and utensils.
Chairman of the picnic is Rod
Nevue, manager of Miller's.

of Riddle and Mr, and Mrs. Jo
seph Wharton of Grants Pass, Mr.
and Mrs. W, T. Langlois are an
uncle and aunt of Mrs. Coen and
Mrs. Catching, who are sisters,
Return From Vacation Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Stark of Roseburg
have returned to their home from
a two weeks' vacation in Idaho,
Montana and Wyoming. They
stayed at Yellowstone National
park for three days, then visited
at Heod River with Mr. and Mrs.
Bud Spaulding, former residents of
Roseburg. Later they visited Mrs.
Stark's uncle and aunt, Mr. and
Mrs. Harley Hamilton, at Wallowa
Lake. Mrs. Stark is employed by
Miller's and Mr. Stark is employed
by Dillard Motor company.
