Purchase Of Seals Being Considered
SAN FRANCISCO (PVSporti
Editor Curly Grieve of the Exam
!nr tiid today financier Louis R.
Lurie ta offering to buy the Sm
Francisco Seals of the Pacific
Coast league.
Grieve quoted the San Francisco
financier as saying he has a hunch
owner Paul I. Fagan will sell.
The offer has been neither ac
cepted nor refused, -urie said, add
ing: "We will huddle again when he
returns from Hawaii.
"Paul ia angered at baseball be
cause he cannot operate the way
he wishes. He is so upset over
the matter he may decide to get
out comple.ely."
Lurie presumably referred to Fa
tan's long fight against the major
league draft, which permits a big
league team to grab a coast
leaguer for $10,000 although a star
might bring several times that in
an open market.
Lurie refused to disclose how
much he is offering for the Seals,
seventh in the league.
Grieve said Faan. who left by
plane Tuesday for Honolulu, reports
