Grays Harbor County Put On Thrtt Timo Schedule

It will Uke three watches end a
calendar to tell time in Grays
Harbor county the rest of this sum
mer.
Commissioners of this county
which has iu western front on the
shores of the Pacific ocean have
put the county on three time sched
ules. Eastern Grays Harbor (inland)
will operate on standard time, the
commissioners decided. In Aber
deen, Hoquiam and the second
commissioner district (approxi
mately central Grays Harbor), all
clocks are on daylight saving time.
But In northwestern Grsys Har
bor, a rural area which includes
Pacific ocean beaches, they set up
this system:
On Monday though Friday at
It p. m., clocks will operate on
daylight time. At p.m. Friday,
th"y will be turned back to stand
ard time and remain there until
6 p. m. Sunday.
.The change was made to accom
modate north beach tavern and re
sort owners who in turn said it
wo'ild accommodate visitors from
daylight saving time Puget sound
cities of Tacoma and Seattle.
The U. S. Bureau of Land Man
agement has 12 land offices i n
western states and three in
Alaska.

Bingo In Church Not
Gambling, Jury Says

Church bingo isn't gambling in
the opinion of an Allen county cir
cuit court jury.
Ir deliberated Just 45 minutes
and acquitted five persons charged
with gaming and keeping gaming
devices.
The defendants were the Rev.
Bernice Brook, minister of the
Spiritualist Church of Divine Sci
ence, and four church members.
They admitted bingo was played
to raise money for a new church
building.
The five and 29 other persons,
mostly elderly women, were ar
rested at the church May 22 and
hauled to the police station in pa
trol wagons. Charges against all but
