Wild Tug Unhurt From Solo Binge
VANCOITER. B. C. (CP) I
Little Toot started a nrar-panic
n.ir th entrance of Vancouver "
harbor after leaving her crew high '
and dry on a log boom.
Skipper Ken Hughes and Seaman
Tommy Jacques left the tug Com-,
alon's engine running when they
hopped onto the boom for a brief
chat with the crew of another
vessel. i
Comalong seized the chance and ,
whipped off by herself. I
She charged among fishing
boats, tearing them half to death,

but kept well out of the way of
the big freighters moving in and
out of the harbor.
The tug Araaral and the Van
couver police patrol launch gave
chase but couldn't catch t h t
Comalong.
Three tortuous miles later, the
runaw.ay tug smacked into the
R. C. A. F. jetty at Jericho beach,
bounced off and ran up onto the
shore, exhausted.
The Amaral went back to the log
boom, picked up the atranded crew
and then yanked the Comalong off
the beach.
The C'omealong wasn't seriously
hurt.
