SURVlVEIr Uonel Essex, surrimr of the epic stand of the
British Gtouchester Battalion, is recovering from bis wounds in the
B. O. O F. hospitai m Kate, Japan. When the Reds over-ran nis
comrades. Essex, severely wounded, played dead until he was found
and sheltered by a Korean famlur. He was rescued when the Allies
drove north and recaptured the area.

Two automobiles were damaged
fairly extensively Saturday when
vehicles operated by William E.
Feagins, Roseburg, and George
Howard, Roseburg, collided at the
intersection of Rose and Douglas
streets. Police Chief Lloyd J. Lr-
sen reports.
The door of the Howard vehicle
waa caved in and the center post
damaged while front end or uie
Feagin automobile was smashed.
No citation was issued.

other automobile accident Sunday
when a car driven by Jo Ann
Gross, Roseburg, collided with a
vehicle operated by Kenneth L.

said. The accident occurred at the
