One of his recent experiences more or less takes the cake for unusual anecdotes. As one of his duties, Harry must anticipate the "queens" every need. One such "queen" who had hitch-hiked to the broadcast dressed in sweater, slacks and tennis shoes, needed an ensemble for her whirl around the town's nite spots. Harry went to work and rounded up a com plete outfit for her to wear. The "queen" was wide-eyed with ex citement when she saw her ward robe, but after she had checked everything she turned to Harry and said, "How about some g a r ters?" Harry, who incidentally is a married man, stammered, "1 thought those things had gone out of style. How was I to know?" Mexican Labor Ouster Sought By Farm Union EL CENTRO. Calif. The AKL National Farm Labor union will ask Mexico to remove its na tionals from the Imperial valley farm strike area. Ernesto Galana, vice president of the union, left for Mexico City to present this demand to the gov ernment there. Mexicans are imported to help during harvesting and planting in Imperial valley, just north of the border. The United States and Mexico have an agreement that these contract workers will not be paid less than the going wage and must be removed in case of a la bor dispute. Hank Hasiwar, western director of the union, claims the Mexican contract laborers and many "wet backs," those Mexicans who cross the border illegally, are strike breakers and are keeping wages down. He said they work for as little as $3 a week plus meals. Keith Mets, president of the Im perial Valley Farmers association, says withdrawal of the Mexicans would hinder the multi-million dol lar harvest of early vegetable crops. The union is seeking wage boost from 60 cents an hour to 11 and a five-cent per crate Increase over the present 20-cent rate. Sixteen pickets have been ar rested, most of them on charges of blocking traffic. Various Uses Of Fund For Scouting Explained To emphasize the need of $73, 000 in the Oregon Trail council of the Boy Scouts organisation, a campaign report shows that only about 30 percent of the boys in this area enjoy the benefits o f acouting. The report states that every cent of the money received in the Scout ing debut in the independent fund raising effort this year will go for operation and development of the Scouting program in this area. A majority of the money received in the one-day drive June 12 will go for organization of units is well as the operation and expansion ol the present roster of units, the re port continues.
