By Jo Fischer Flower Show Is Scheduled By Woman's Club June 6 "Roses around the world" will be the theme of the Rose Show, which the Roseburg Woman's club is spon soring; June 6 at the First Methodist church, corner of Main and Lane streets. Only roses will be entered, announced the co-chairmen Mrs. Earl Bleile and Mrs. H. F Beauchamp. Entries must be labeled correctly and neatly. Containers will be furnished for the single specimens, also the full blown rose and bud entries. Classificstions for all specimens will be divided into three sections. The first section will include: class 1 hybrid teas, one bloom from any one of red, yellow, white , pink or two tone roses; class 2 flori bundas, one spray; class 3, polyan thas, one spray; class 4 climb inf roses, one spray, and class S, miniatures or dwarf roses in your own containers with the exhibitors' nsmes on the bottom. Section II will include full bloom and bud entry, the same as the hybrid tea classification. They will be Judged 25 points each for color and form; 20 points each for sub stance and stem foliage, and 10 points for site. American Rose society rules re quire that all specimen of hybrid teas be disbudded. While failure does not disquslify a bloom, the presence of side buds penalises It. Roses should be half to three fourths open. Buds one-third or less open do not qualify as a bloom. Flowers of section 1 and II must be grown by the exhibitors. Only one entry mey be received from each exhibitor for each classi fication from any one person. Section III will be arrangements. These will include: 1, arrangement of only roses. 2, arrangement with roses predominating, and 8, 1 miniatures. Exhibitors should sup ply their own containers, with their 1 names printed on the bottom. i Miniatures include a. An over-1 all of three inches; b. An overall of five inches. Arrangements must be the work of the exhibitors. Points scoring include color com position, 25; relation to container, 10; proportion and balance. 25; dis tinction and originality, 20; suita bility ot combination of material, 10, and condition, 10. The doors will be open to exhibi tors at 8:30 a. nr.. and closed at It a. m. for competljive entries.
