Chairman of the Red Cross drive
for funds in Elkton, .Mrs. J. N.
Henderer, reports that Elkton more
than doubled its quota of 3100 by
taking in $233.61. Mrs. Henderer
was assisted by Mrs. Ray Monner,
Mrs. Joe Bishop, Mrs. Harry Whit
field. Mrs. Lester Riley and Frank
lin Moore.
J. N. Henderer is in Portland at
the clinic.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Rex Keep
March 25, was a son. Ronnie Dale,
weight six pounds Sine ounces.
The Elkton junior class raised
364 gross from the class play.
Pvt. Vera Clemo is home on
leave from Ft. Benning, 9a.
Mrs. William Carlson has re
turned home from a three-week
trip to Wabeno. Wise, where she
had been visiting relatives and
friends.
Berkley and Thomas are moving
their gravel plant from Aialea to
Myrtle Creek this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Beckley and
sons spent the weekend visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Orval Beckley.
Mrs. Wade Henderer and daugh
ter, Diana, are visiting for a couple
of weeks with Mrs. Henderers'
mother, Mrs. L. H. Weigle, at
Harbor, Ore.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hancock
recently took their daughter, Carol
Ann, to the Shriners hospital in
Portland where she will have more
skin grafting done.
The Willing Worker of the
Church of Christ will meet with
Mrs. Fred AUdridge April 18.
The Elkton srade school is very
crowded and large crops of first
graders are expected for several
years to come.
Sixteen women have started tak
ing the American Red Cross home
nursing course under the direction
of Mrs. lva Cowan ana Mrs. Mar
ian Strait of Yoncalla, both of
whom are Qualified instructors.
The ladies are meeting three nights
a week at the high school.
The Lions club plana charter
night Saturday.
Mrs. L. E. Dement, Mrs. Charles
Hedden, Mrs. Elton Benedict and
Mrs. Ray Hoffman served on the
election board for the bond issue.

gressman who appointed him to

raid. Police said they could not
stop the game.
No admission was charged and
