Thia is the second invitational
sponsored by the Bulldog school.

The Methodist church junior high
school volleyball team conquered
the Presbyterian church with ease
in straight sets, 151, 15-1, at the
armory Thursday to slay in the top
spot. Dillard Methodist had t o
come from behind to down North

barely took the second set, 18-14.
but stole the match with a third
set win, 15-3.
In the senior high division, the
Presbyterian church handed league
leading Methodist its first lost but
didn't succeed in shaking the latter

Local Shooters
Top Trap Contest
The Portl&sk Oregon Journal an
nounced Wednesday that the Rose
burg Rod and Gun club shooters
are .back in top position in the
annual Journal Telegraphic Trap
shooting league.
Roseburg, which chalked up its
third straight perfect score of 75,
and the Roseburg Gun club, Bend
and Klamath Kails are now the
lone unbeaten teams in competi
tion. According to the Journal, only
48 shooters of the more than 500
entered managed to make perfect
25 scores. The 11-week competition
is determined by the top three
shooters of the club ui weekly shoot
offs. So far in the ahoot, Rosehurg has
won 21. lost none and tied two
for 44 points, four above the run-ners-up.
Four Roseburg men posted 25's
in the shoot last Sunday. They were
Norman Wasson, Dallas Bennett,
Jack Culver and E. J. Wainscott.

to Senior weekend activities.
The Orange football candidates,
now in their seeonri week of spring
practice sessions, will be divided
into separate squads for the full
game scrimmage start I : at 3 p.m.
In the event of rain, the festivities
will shift from Bell field to the
practice field adjoining the tennis
courts.
Coach Kip Taytor has 18 letter
men on hand this spring, but much
of the attention is being devoted to
the most promising sophomores of
next fall. Veterans Sam Baker,
Gene Taft, Bob Cornelison and
Jerry Schubert are members of
the track souad, and John Thomaa
and Cub Houck are regulars on
the OSC baseball team.
At least seven Beavers will find
themselves in new positions when
the 1951 campaign gets underway.
Most significant is the shilling of
linebacker Bob Redkey to offen
sive fullback, where his hard run
ning can be utilired. Jim Cordial,
a defensive end last fall, is being
trained to play offensive right halfback.

Conley, Ronnie Groves and Gene
Wilkerson. Hoffman said that if
the singles bring the score heavily
to Roaeburg's favor, he will call
on his reserves for doubles com
petition. He noted that sixth man,
Kee Briggs is almost certain to
take part in one of the doublet
matches.
