Mr. and Mrs. Meredith were
married in Newton. Jasper county,
Iowa, March 31. 1896. They have
nine children; 24 grandchildren
I and 10 great grandchildren. They
I moved to Dillard in 1914 and to
Roseburg in 1944. They make their
home at 1601 Brown avenue. The

Rosebure Junior Woman's club
dinner.
The tables were beautifully dec
orated with silver bowls filled with
camellias. Arrangements of Easter
lilies and daffodils were used about
the room. Mrs. Lowell Hamm,
Mrs. Gerald Williams. Mrs. Rob
ert Green and Mrs. Louis Renn
were in charge of the dinner and
the decorations.

CHARMING EASTER EVENT
The family of Mr. and Mrs. Wil
liam A. Long, of Itmpqua avenue,
gathered Easier Sunday for a re
union and dinner at the Long
home.
Mr. Long, who is well-known
throughout the Roseburg area tor
his beautiful gardens, supplied
lovely bouquets of daffodils, hya
cinths and Chinese lilies for the
dining table and rooms. Colored
egg shells made clever Easter nut
cups and individual favors were
baskets of Easter eggs.
Among the guests especially hon

Mrs. Mildred Lindstrom a o d
grandson of the Longs, who is leav
ing April 10 for the army.

MRS. IRENE GRANT was an interesting visitor in Roseburg over
Thursday night at the guest of Mr. and Mri. Paul Jenkins in Laurel
wood en route from New York City to her home in Los Angeles.
Mrs, Grant has just returned from the American zone in Germany,
where she has spent the last three years in the army intelligence
service. Prior to and during World War II, Mrs, Grant was tta-
tioned in Honolulu. While there, in 1940, she was hostess at the
reception following the wedding of Meredith Anne Jenkins
(daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Paul Jenkinsl, to Lt. Commander
Clark W, Leedy, whose ship, the Houston, made Honolulu its
headquarters at that time. While In New York City, Mrs. Grant
enjoyed e visit with Mrs. Leedy, before starting for the West

cently when the group met at the

The Easter motif was rarricd out
with rabbits, chicks and daffodils
forming the decorations. The buf
fet table was decorated with nests
nf bunnies and eggs. Place cards
of chicks and colored eggshells
full of candy eggs completed the
Easter Iheme.
A short business session was con
ducted after the luncheon. Mem
