ADD FINISHING TOUCHES Darrel Davis, left, and Jerry L.
Jones, students in Ronald Edie's woodworking class in industrial
arts at Senior high, add the finishing -touches to a pair of ex

beautiful household articles illustrate only a fraction of the many
different types of work done by the students taking the I. A.

COMES A LETTER acknowledg
ing my request for opinions on
KRNR's programming. . . , " .
KRNR How can a station carry
the slanderous remarks 'of Kullon
Lewis Jr And why all the
programs from California, such as
Lionel Barrymore, Paula Stone and
others? Not very interesting. Sun
day morning all-church. Sunday
afternoon all crime." Then, the
writer points up stereotyped
phrases with: "On the beam. , .
Roll out the musical carpet
BUNK." Also thinks vocalist Kay
Starr is "awful." Letter and its
contents rendered meaningless,
however, with no signature.
First, KRNR carries the com
mentary of Kulton Lewis Jr. (week
days, 4:00 and 9:15 p.m.) for the
simple reason that he has a vast
and consistent listening audience in
this area. Nationwide, listeners'
keen interest in even Mr. Lewis'
personal activities was evidenced
when the publisher of "Guideposts"
magazine sent him a note pointing
out that they had received a
quarter-million requests for copies
of the publication whtn Mr. Lewis
was the subject of an article in
one issue of the magazine. As for
Hollywoodorginated programs. . . .
how else would you suggest acquir
ing famous entertainment person
alities for local presentation? Can
acrce with only one comment con
tained in the letter, in that I, too,
am somewhat revolted with the
Kay Starr song stylings. . . .
TONIGHT: Sir Benegal Rau,
chief delegate to the United Na
tions from India, will be the In
terview guest for MDL's news-making
"Reporter's Roundup" broad
cast, (8:00-8:30 p.m.). Sir Benegal,
whose efforts to mediate the Ko
rean problem have made him most
prominent in U. S. news head
lines, will be making one of his
rare radio appearances on t h i
broadcast. The program will origi
nate from New York, and the in
terview with the Indian leader will
come at a time when the United
Nations is discussing climactic
actions on the Korean crisis and
probable punitive measures against
Communist aggressors.
