the polio foundation in the Winston
association meeting in the Rnldle
school Thursday evening, Jan. 18,
concerning the work of the polio

soring a March of Dimes ham din
ner to which the public is invited
Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Ever
green Grange hall. Plans are made
to serve dinner from S to 8 o'clock.

The Butterfly Bluebirds of the
Dillard school decided at their reg
ular meeting V'ednesday afternoon
to sponsor Sail' Hilt's show, the
"Stars of Tomorrow," to raise
funds to buy materials for their
working p-ojects. The program is
scheduled at the Winston Commun
ity club Friday, Jan. 19, at 8 p.m.
The program includes tapdancing,
tumbling baton and cowboy num.
bers. Many local children appear
in the program.
The Butterfly Bluebirds are sec
ond grade girls, working under the
leadership of Mrs. Elva Forest,
who teaches them ceramics and
textile painting and Mrs. Mason
Davidson.
Mrs. Mary Bird, program chair
man of the Dillard Parent-Teachers
association, called a meeting
Wednesday evening at her home
to plan the program for "father's
night." The troup plans to panto
mime the "Romance of Cinder-
l ella" at the regular meeting of
the Dillard P I A. Friday night,
Jan. 19. Those present to plan the
program were Mr. and Mrs. Wit
her Hill, Harry Brown, Estal Nick
erson, Marvin Covey, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles McCord and Rev.
Frank Drew. This program will
be open to the public as well as
parents of the school children and
members of the PTA.
The Dillard school playground
is being improved with a new 60
by 100-foot cement slab, recently
poured, to be constructed into a
basketball, tennis and volleyball
playground.

ner, it seems, for C. E. Moyer,
Dillard nurseryman, has during
the past week shipped over 50,000
narcissi blooms of the early var
iety to markets throughout the
northwest and eastern cities.
Weekend guests at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tealer and Mr.
and Mrs. Loyde Remington were
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sullens and
sen, Graig. They returned to their
home in Salem Sunday evening.
Clifford Remington of Salem is
guest oS the Loyde Remingtons. He
has secured employment with the
Roseburg Lumber company and
will send for his wife as soon as
he can locate a house in which to
live in this area.
Mr. and Mrs. Terrol Cooper and
son, Bobby, of McMinnville were
guests at the home of the former's
lather and mother, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Cooper. Mrs. Bill Cooper ac
companied her son and family to
Coquille Friday to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Cooper and son, Terry,
and Mr. and Mrs. Lon Clark and
daughter, Betty.
Mrs. Leo Willis has been con
fined to her home for the past
week, with a severe cold.

Body Of Missing Child
Found Floating In Creek

search for a six year-old girl ended
with the discovery of her body
floating in suburban Johnson creek.
The girl, Patricia Brown, dis
appeared enroute to a grocery
store to make a purchase for her
mother.
Mrs. Eileen Brown, the mother,
and neighbors hunted the girl for
four hours and called state police
after her wagon was found i n
brush along Johnson creek, four
blocks from her home.
