Two Drivers Cited
In Auto Crashes
Three persons were hospitaliied
ind tle police iued two cita
tions Thursday result of two
utomobile accidenla in the Rose
burl area.
The first accident occurred on
Highway 99 north Thursday after
noon. John Harry Lohr, Tacoma,
Wafcn., a n-M
the crest of a hill in a 1949 coupe
when he collided head-on with a
1949 pickup driven -by Warren Theo
dore Robinson. Rosehuri!. the po
lice report. Both driven were
slightly in lured and taken to Mercy
hospital for treatment. Lohr waa
cited by state police for reckless
driving. .
The other accident occurred
south of Roseburg on Highway W.
Alvin Ait Bnsworth, 52, Koseburg,
drove his 1946 sedan on the high
way from a cafe and crashed into
the side of a passing car driven
by Roy Max llukill. 39. Myrtle
Creek. Bosworth was taken to
Mercy hospital with slight injuries
and later released. He was cited
by state police for failing to yield
the right-of-way.

Kidder and their three children,

Mrs. Wahoviak is Mrs. Kidder's
mother. She plans to remain for

G. Kerrier has returned from an
extended vacation with her son
and daughter-in-law. Attorney and
Mrs. Thomas Hartfiel. They mo
tored to Seattle and visited Miss
Mabel Macintosh, and then went
to Vancouver, B. C, for a week
of sightseeing, and from there to
Nanimo by boat where they toured
the island and spent a week in
Victoria before coming home by
way of Port Angehs.

Dudley Field Malone, internation
ally famed attorney, actor and one
lime prominent Democrat, is dead
at the age of 68. He had suffered
from a heart condition for 12 years.
Malone served as collector of
the port of New York durtng World
War II. He was an assistant sec
retary of state for seven months
in 1913 during Wood row Wilson's
first term as Tresident.
Brannan Farm Plan
Losing, Berkley Hints
MILWAUKEE (.Pi-The Bran
nan farm plan for the support of
agriculture. Vice President Barkley
hinted, is losing favor with the
administration.
In the first indication that the
much discussed proposal might
not be pressed ardently by Demo
crats in the present election cam
paign. Barkley told a news con
ference last night:
"The Brannan plan is controver
sial. It is entitled to be studied
but I am not committed to it and
administration is not commited to
it."

Austin Harold Welt Jr., 19. son of
Mr. and Mrs. Austi Harold Welt,
of route 2, Roseburi, was accepted
for enlistment in the U. S. navy
on Oct. 3. Welt graduated from
Roseburg senior high school i o
1949. Until his enlistment, he was
employed by the Percy Croft gar
age. Dwight Rains, 19, son of Mr,
and Mrs. Dwight Rains of route
4, was also accepted for enlistment
in the navy Oct. 3, the local re
cruiting office announced.

less than 90 days.
Re-registration is in order if the
individual ia registered under any
other law. Membera of armed
forces reserve organiiatinns are
