L I ' I Boxcar Shortage To Become Worse, Spokesman Claims MEDFORD -l.n The boxcar shollase will get worse before it lieu better, a lumber industry spokesman said here Friday muht. but he held hope for an eventual solution. George Flanagan, manager of 'he F.lk Lumber company and member of the west coast car shortage committee, told some 70 lumbermen that the shortage is the "worst ever" in this rQon. Pointing out that the local sum mer shortage is chronic, Flanagan said that this year's nationwide sesreity is focussing attention on the situation and may b ri ng eventual 4 id to this region. Bills introduced by Rep. Ells worth (R-Ore) were reviewed by Flanagan. These include propols to in vestigate the K'C, appropriate J2.SO.000.000 to buy boxcars for the emergency, use of ship.-Mrom the mothball fleet to move lumber east, and use of cars carrying Korean war supplies to the west coast to move lumber east, instead of re turning empty. The car shortage committee, Flanagan hinted, plans some ac tion, but he refused to elaborate. Other lumbermen proposed that pressure be brought to bear 0 n Korea Chairman Doesn't See Stop At 38th Parallel SOMEWHERE IN KOREA (.T) P. H. Shinicky. chairman of the Korean National assembly, said to day he believed United Nations forces will not stop at the 38th parallel, which divides North and South Korea. Shinicky said the IT. N. forces would o to the Manchurian bor der to unify the country. It has been divided since the end of the war with Japan. The gray-haired chairman said "it is only doing justice to Korea to unify the divided nation by abol ishing the artificial boundary of the 38th parallel." Shinicky said 'a permanent United Nations armed force would be welcome to stay along the Ko-rean-Manchurian border. Rut Ko rea itself must ,)e administered by its own government. As soon as the 3Hlh parallel is removed as a boundary, Shinicky said, 100 vacant seats in the Na tional Assembly will be filled at a general election. The assembly today thanked General MacArthur for the Inchon landing. Fire Station Destroyed When Doors Won't Open TRAPPE, Pa. CP) When fire broke out in the fire house of this small south eastern Pennsyl vania community yesterday, more than 20 volunteer firemen tried to open the electrically-controlled doors. The fire fighters huffed- and puffed hut they could get the overhead doors only a few feet off the floor. The flames had disabled the electric controls.
