Very well pleased with the Ful ton Lewis Jr. response . . .Forty cards and letters received within a week's time in answer to two requests made in this column. No inducements whatever except loy alty to Fulton Lewis Jr. and we got the above number of replies. A great many interpreted the ap peal for letters to indicate that Lewis might be removed from our program schedule . . . which is certainly not the case. His news commentary will continue to be aired 4:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. daily, and the listenership for both broad casts seems to be evenly distrib uted, half and half, as evidenced through our mail-poll. Shipments from the Pac ific Northwest states in inter coastal trade also have increased in the same period, the sources said, but at a lesser rate. The imports of sawed boards, planks, deals, etc. (in millions of board feel) were 356 in June of 1950 compared with 275 in May and 120 in June of 1949.
