Livestock Will
Be Auctioned At
Fairgrounds
W i 1 b e r t Anderson. Douelas
county 4-H agent, announced j
Ihursday a livestock auction will
be added to the events scheduled
for Saturday on the program of
the Douglas County fair.
Slated for 2 p. m. in the live
stock showmanship ring, the event
will offer prize sheep, beef and
hogs at public auction.
Anderson said the auction will
give local persons "an excellent
opportunity" to purchase fine
grade meat for immediate use or
for storage in lockers. He said
some persons have already signi
fied their intention to join with
neighbors in the purchase of the
animals, then divide the meat for
use during the winter months.
Assurance that all animals will
provide excellent eating was given
by Livestock Judge Cal Monroe.
"We will offer for sale only
those animals which grade 'good or
better.' " he said. "This means
that the public will have the op
portunity to buy meat which is
better than 80 percent of all meat
now eaten in the state."
Walt Mask will act as auc
tioneer and will be assisted in
sale preparations by John Walin.
A nartial list of the FFA and
4-H club members Who will offer
their animals for bid includes
