SUNDAY AT UMPQUA PARK
All former Nebraskans, their
families snd friends are invited to
attend the one o'clock picnic
luncheon at Umpqua park Sunday,
at which time reorganizing of the
Ex-Nebraskans will take place.
Coffee and pop will be furnished
without charge.
RUMMAGE AND APRON
SALE TO BE SATURDAY
The Eagles auxiliary will spon
sor the weekly rummage sale
Saturday and the Eagles auxiliary
drili team will sponsor an apron
sale Saturday, Aug. 12, downstairs
in (he Eagles hall on Cass street.

rummage sale are asked to call

EVERGREEN GRANGE PICNIC
TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY

Fythian Sisters will sponsor a
rummage sale at the Episcopal
parish hall Saturday, Aug. 12, be
ginning at 9 a.m. The committee
in charge reports a large assort
ment of clothing will be on sale.
Considerable infants wear and
teen-age clothing will be featured
at the sale.
FOLK DANCING CLASS
TO BE HELD TUESDAY
Beginners class in folk dancing
for all Moose members and their
invited guests will he held every

SUTHERLIN REBEKAH
LODGE HAS LARGE
MEETING THURSDAY
Thirty-six members and two vis
itors, Mrs. Mabel Olson of Silver
Leaf Rebekah lodge of Portland
and Mrs. Eva Lockman, Spring
field Rebekah lodge, were present
for the regular Rebekah lodge
meeting Thursday evening.
It was voted to vote at the next
meeting whether the dues of the
members shall be raised and all
members are urged to be present
at this session, Thursday evening,
August 17.
A letter was read from Mrs
Vera Brittain, who has moved to
Marcola, staling she had attended
a Rebekah picnic and that she
is still in her wheel chair.
All past Noble Grands are asked
to be present at the August 17
meeting as this will be past Noble
Grand night and they are to be
honored at that time.
Under good of the order, Mrs.
Lucille Chase and Mrs. Rosemarie
Jones had group singing "Amer
ica", "Quilting Party" and "Good
Night Ladies." A game followed.
Balloting was exemplified with
suggestions from the district dep
uty. After lodge closed the degree
staff practiced until a late hour.
VFW AUXILIARY DANCE
TO BE HELD AT VETERANS
HOSPITAL MONDAY EVENING.
The slate department VFW aux
iliary will sponsor a dance at the

A delightful housewarming party
was enjoyed at the Bun Lavellet
home in West Park Addition Fri
day afternoon, when relatives and
friends . gathered wilh beautiful
gifts to welcome the newcomers
to the community. Visiting was

theme of Associated Business Wo
men's Club flower show, will be
worked out by arrangements fea
turing die fashioning of hats under
the supervision of Mrs. Fred Rich
ardson wilh organ music by Mrs.
Cynthia Magill.
The show will be staged August
26, in the Community hall, and
will be open to the public from
noon until 8 p.m. Exhibitors arc
to have cut flowers and plants
at the hall not later than 10 a.m.
Saturday morning.
Judging will begin at 10 a.m.
with the doors open by noon.
Commercial exhibits are invited
on a non-competitive basis.
Prizes will be given in different
groups, which is open to all ama
teur growers. Sweepstakes award
will be made for the person win
ning the most blue ribbons.
There is no entry fee nor ad
mission charge. The antiques are
also to be in place by 10 a.m. and
last but not least, is the hobbies
with pri7.es to be awarded in all
of the divisions.
The food sale will be open to
the public during the day as will
also the bazaar and white elephant
sale.
DELBERT DICKEY IS '
HONORED ON BIRTHDAY
Dclbert Dickey was pleasantly
evening when his employees and
surprised at his home Tuesday
their wives and husbands gathered
his birthday. Mr. Dickey received
at his home to help him celebrate
many nic gifts from his friends.

HOSTESS AT PARTY
Mrs. George Cornish entertained
at a seven o'clock chicken dinner
party at the Cornish home at
Sutherlin, Saturday, honoring her
husband on his birthday. The lace
covered table was centered with
a bowl of roses and a beautifully
decorated birthday cake made by
Lilly Smith was cut in his honor.

Open Air Art Show Is
Slated At Library Park
The public is invited to attend
the first open air art show in Rose
burg, slated at City Library park
Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Original works of Roseburg Arts
and Crafts club members will he
shown and also price-marked tor
sale to the public. The city of Roce
burg is cooperating with the club in
arranging the exhibit and lights
will be strung in order to permit
showing of the exhibits after dark.
Admission to the show is free.
Alexandre Eiffel, builder of the
Eiffel Tower, also designed the
locks for the Panama Canal.

Lake returned home Saturday.
