the church Wednesday afternoon.
Devotions were in charge of Mrs.
Arthur Marsh and the business
session presided over by the presi
dent, Mrs. Corvin Heard. Reports
of committees included the send
ing of two pairs of pillow sligs in
response to an appeal from the
supply secretary; report of the
special country store bazaar held
in July, and the presenting o f
plans of .the parsonage committee.
A discussion of the proposed cab
inets for the church kitchen re
sulted in the appointing of Mrs.
Dorothea Gateman, Mis. W. J.
Meredith and Mrs. George Marsh
as a special committee to investi
gate and report later. Mrs. Billie
Elliott was chosen leader of the
intermediate youth fellowship
group. In response to a letter from
the State WSCS officers, the sec
retary, Mrs. Elliott, was instruc
ted to contact the Kosebprg so
ciety in the visitation program,
which also named the Yoncalla
society to visit the local group.
The church's new pastor Rev.
A. Grace Hartley, was welcomed
as a new member. Light refresh

Oregon Traffic Deaths
Set New July Record
SALEM, (TP) Fifty persons
died in Oregon traffic accidents
last month.
Secretary of State said this was
a new record for July.
The toll was 67 percent higher
than in the June fatility total of 30.
Thirty-one were killed in May.
More menhaden are caught on
the South Atlantic and Gulf coasts
than all other fin fishes combined,
says the U. S. Fish and Wildlife
Service.
