was chosen because of her outstanding contribution ta the festi
val and by popular demand.
Sha is immediate past president of the Ashland Soropti
mists, past worthy matron of tha Eastern Star, member of the
Fortnightly Study club and lecturer of tha Bellview grange. She
will begin her reign Aug. 2 and preside over official festival
functions.
This is tha first time a woman of such distinction has been
chosen as Queen Elizabeth at tha famed Shakespeare festival in
Ashland.

Displayed By Grange
Ten antique bed spreads and
quilts, some over 150 years old,
were displayed at the Evergreen
Grange meeting Friday night at
the hall. During the lecture' hour
a Chinese auction was held and
Mable Lange gave a reading.
Ladies of the Grange are asked
to bring baked Roods to the last
meeting in August fnr the hobby
table, according to Nell Lander,
hobby committee member.
A potluck dinner preceded the
business meeting. The refreshment
committee for the Aug. 11 meet
ing will be Mr. and Mrs. E. Nick
