Russian People Want War To End Their Oppression BOSTON, May 25 CP) The people behind the iron curtain are praying for war between the United Slates and Russia to deliver them from oppression, according to Rep. Walter H. Judd (R.-Minn.). Judd told the Northern Baptist convention last night that in five eastern European countries he visited within the Soviet sphere he found the people have "such a hatred for their oppressors that they are praying for war." A medical missionary in China before the last war. Judd belittled report! that Secretary General Trygve Lie of the United Nations went to Moscow to try to negotiate peace in the cold war. "There is no way to end the cold war but to win it, the Minne sotan said. The Rev. Dr. G. 'Pitt Beers of New York City, executive secre tary of the American Baptist Home Mission society, told the 3,000 delegates that un-Christian conduct by Americans handicaps the church abroad. He said that un-Christian con duct means "hanging chains on our missionaries' hands and weights on their feet. "When a nation becomes the fwealthiest and most powerful in the world," he seid, "its character i- becomes a matter ef world in terest. Our evil deeds are heralded abroad with rIcj and even our good deeds receive some recogni tion." He said that when the country acts "christianly," it gives "our missionaries wings." He deplored what he described as "acts of racial injustice," Such conduct, he said, fetters the activi ties of American church and medical missionaries in far flung areas. v- (fin Tex Dodging Charges Hit 3 Mora In Kansas City WASHINGTON, May 25.-(JV-The Justice department today an nminrpd three more income tax evasion indictments have been re turned by a Kansas City federal grand jury investigating crime con ditions in that city.
