OF THE CITY OF ROSEBURG:
That Section 33 of the existing mu
nicipal charier of the City of Ro
burg, Oregon, as enacted by th legisla
tive assembly of the Male of Oresion.
and as heretofore amended by aaid
legislative assembly and as heretofore
amended by th vote of th people of
the City of Roaeburg under the initia
tive and referendum and otherwise,
shall be and th same hereby u
amended by adding to aald Section S3
a subdivision to be known aa Subdi
vision 43 which shall read as follows-
Subdivision 63: Th Common Coun
cil of the City of Roseburg hereby I
granted the power, in addition to U
the other power granted by the muni
cipal charter of the City of Roeaourg,
to purchas or acquire by the power
of eminent domain or otherwise, either
within or without the City limits of
said City. land or lands adjacent to
the existing Roseburg municipal air
port to become an addition to said
airport and to Improve said additional
lands as well as the existing airport
lands, by building new and Improving
existing runways, parking strips, boun
dary and flood lights, hangars, and oth
er buildings and to Improve aaid lands
in such other manner as to the Com
mon Council may seem advisable lor
airport purposes.
For the purpose of raising th neces
sary funds to purchase or acquire
such lands and to make said airport
improvements the Common Council
hereby la authorlted and empowered
to Issue and sell bonds of the City,
bearing Interest at not to exceed 4',fc
per annum, and in a sum not to ex
ceed the principal amount of 4200.000.

To a casual visitor there appears
to be no letup in the postwar boom.
But III curiously unlike other
booms in U. S. history. There is
an unmistakable solidity about iU

But the laad salesmen aren't serv

the hectic boom there in the 1920'a.
It's a high-priced area and the
wages are generally high. I found
this out when I got a shoeshine at
the Seattle-Tacoma airport, and

But they don't tip as much out
here aa they dp in the east.
There are short cuts to keep
down the costs. People in the north
west seem to know how to do
more things for themselves than
they do in some other sections.
At one small party t attended, for
example, two of the men were
building their own homes. They
didn't see anything unusual about

engulfed. Their attitude is that of
a family which settles down to
enjoy a fresh picnic site, only to
have six other frimlies com
whooping up to share it, too,
"The real trouble la so many
people are coming out her it s
hard to adapt them all to our ,
western way of life," sighed one
lady. "They're beginning to swal
low us and we were here first."
But it is doubltful if that will
slow the boom in the Pacific north
west. It has a crowded time a
