Shar ing the program were the Camp Fire Girls under the leadership of Mrs. George Miller and Mrs. L. Gibson. Following the flag salute, group singing, a piano solo, several songs and dances were presented by the Camp Fir Girls. A nominating committee, Roy Grain. Mrs. George Miller and Mrs. Fred Dent, was elected during the business session. Information was given concern ing the stage curtains for which the PTA has raised funds. Mrs. E. McElroy was appointed to rep resent Benson PTA to urry out plans for the county council lunch eon to be held at Fullerton school April 1, when the Roseburg schools will serve as co-hostesses. Mrs. Don Wills, president, an nounced there seems to be little hopes for exchange students this year. Reports were also given on the executive and last council meet ing. Benson principal Roy Cram dis played the new movie projector purchased for the school by the teachers from their share of the chili supper proceeds. Ph. 938-J-4 Boy Scouts Plan For Jamboree Set At Valley Forge The quota for the National Boy Scout jamboree, to be held at Val ley Forge, Pennsylvania this July, is rapidly being filled in this area, according to Oregon Trail council headquarters in Eugene. Approxi mately one boy from each troop and senior scout unit will have an opportunity to make the trip, ISO places it the jamboree having been assigned to the Oregon trail coun cil, which includes Lincoln, Ben ton, Lane, Douglas, Coos and Cur ry counties. The boys from this area will trav el by special train, and will be under the constant supervision ut experienced adult scouters. The en tire trip for the boys from the Northwest will take about 23 days, of which seven will be spent, at the encampment at Valley Forge. The jamboree will extend over July Fourth, and it is expected that President Truman will make his Independence dy speech to the 40,000 Boy Scouts who will attend ihis historic scouting event. Many stopovers have been plan ned on the way to and from Valley Forge, so that the scouts may visit cities and points of interest all across the nation.
