- Beta Sigma Phi annual formal
Sweetheart ball will be an event
of Saturday night, Feb. 11, at nine
o'clock at the Roseburg Country
clubhouse. All four chapters of the
sorority will participate. The queen
of the ball will be selected from
the four candidates representing
the four chapters. All Beta Sigma
Phi members and their invited
guests have been asked to enjoy

cent years has made her home

JUNIOR WOMAN'S CLUB
SECOND IN STATE FOR
DONATIONS TO WOODBURN
The Roseburg Junior Woman's
club was second In the state of all
junior clubs for donations to the
woodburn Training school, which
is the state project of the clubs,
according to word received nere
by the state contact chairman, Mrs.
Emery C. Ingham.
Members of the club met Mon
day evening at the Eagles hall
with Mrs. Harold Jokela, president,
in charge. Members are stuffing
and addressing 5,000 envelopes for
the Easter lily sale for. Crippled
Adults and Children's annual seal
sale.
Plans were made to start a trav
eling basket among club members.
A cake will be made and brought
to every meeting to also raise
tunds for the c ub. Mrs. Ra Dh Ob
man will furnish the cake for the
Feb. 20th meeting.
The club paid $100 to the Douglas
county community hospital, which
is two-tnirds ol the amount Dlede-
ed, which is now naid.

ington and St. Valentine's day were
read.
A donation was made to the
March of Dimes and plans drawn
for cutting stencils for textile paint
ing at the next meeting. Mrs. Wil
lamina Bonebrake will entertain
the club at an all-day meeting with
potluck luncheon at noon, Feb. 15..
Mrs. Katie Conn had charge of
the program reading a poem by
Longfellow.

the Veterans hospital who talked
on "Child Guidance and Sex Edu

gren." A capacity audience heard Dr
Simmons discuss his topic which
was followed by a Founder's Day
observance and a social hour.
Highlight of P.-T.A. activities this
week will be the Valentine buffet
dinner at Fullerton school Friday
evening. Turkey will be served be
ginning at 6 p.m. The public is
invited.
