Hall CHURCH GROUP ENJOYS CHRISTMAS MEETING AT METHODIST CHURCH The Women's Society of Chris tlan Service met in the social room of the Methodist church Thursday for their pot-luck din ner and Christmas party, with Mrs. Maude Hollis and Mrs, Marie Rletmann as hostesses. The tables were decorated in the Christmas motif with holly and tall 1 ghted red tapers. Mrs. Margaret Watson had charge of the program. Christ mas carols were sung and the devotionals were led hy the mln lster, Reverend C. E. Brlttaln. Reading "Bessies Christmas tve Lark," by Mrs. Stella French; Solo-Mrs. Lorena Ellis 'The Star Was His Candle." The exchange of gifts was then enjoved followed visiting. WIN8TON METHODIST YOUTH DECORATE TREE ENJOY HOLIDAY CAROLING The Methodist Youth Fellow ship of Dillard held their weekly meeting at o:ju at ine cnurcn on Sunday evening. The leader of the evening was Gerry Gentry, Alter tne regular meeting tne group dcorated the church for the Christmas program which was held Friday, December 23. Later the youth of Winston and Dillard went on a hay ride and caroling.. The truck was furnish ed and driven by Stanford Buell. Chaperons were Helen and Paul Kummell and Arthur and Edna Gastorf. As the caroling drew to a con clusion the group was invited to Miss Stella Finnell's home, where they had a chili feast. H. E, CLUB HOLDS SHOWER FOR MEMBER WHO WAS WED RECENTLY 'The Kellogg Home Economics Club met in regular session Dec. 15, with a sack lunch at noon. Chairman Emma Madison pre sided. Reports were .given by various committees on the re cent bazaar. Charlotte Minter was appoint ed chairman of the fancy work for the coming year. Fancy work left from the Bazaar was ex hibited and many pieces sold. Immediately following the bus iness meeting a bridal shower was given Mrs. Gale Madison, nee Carol Garrison. Many gifts were opened and refreshments were served to about 40 ladies. On Friday evening the 16th about fifty friends of Mr. and Mrs. Gale Madison from Elkton and Kellogg, surprised them at their home with an old fashioned charivari. SEW AND SO CLUB HOLDS HOLIDAY EVENT AT SUTHERLIN The home of Mrs. Harry Bark er was the scene of a Christmas party Tuesday evening, when she entertained the Sew and So club at a seven-forty-five o'clock dessert supper. The table was centered with a Christmas motif. The rooms were decked in yule tide colors with a Christmas tree at one end of the large room. Attending were: Mrs. Meryl Wahl, Mrs. Irma Cornish, Mrs. Naomi Riggs, Mrs. Lochle Thompson, Mrs. Juanlta Holgate. Mrs. Mildred Culver, Mrs Ruth Vogelphol, Mrs. Mary Urquhart, Mrs. Nadine Stearns and the hostess, Mrs. Barker. Mrs. Emma Brown Wednesday Dec. 21. The rooms were decorated with Christmas greeting cards and Christmas trees. Singing was led by Mrs. Harold McKay and the Christ mas story was narrated by the minister, Reverend C. E. Brittan. WILLIAMS BAKERY GIRLS LEAGUE SPONSORS CHRISTMAS BALL FOR STUDENTS AT GRANGE HALL Girls League of Roseburg High school turned the Evergreen grange hall into a Toyland scene Thursday prior' to Christmas when the annual Christmas ball was held for high school stu dents. Green and silver carried out the holiday color theme with a large Christmas tree covered with angels hair. Large replica of toys were fastened about the wall and the programs carried out the toyland theme also. Music was provided by Jack Foster and his orchestra and the girls in formals added a color ful addition to the holiday set ting.
