A lighted Christ mas tree was enjoyed and gifts were exchanged. The lace-covered table was centered with a beautifully decorated cake flank ed by tall red candles. New members of 1949 were guests of honor and were seated rison, Mrs. .Bruce Elliott, Mrs. William C. Woods, Mrs. Harold O. Rand and Mrs. S. A. Warg. A delightful Christmas pro gram included two violin solos by Mrs. Leon Mulkey, accompanied by Mrs. Stewart; Christmas reading by Mrs. Earl Wiley, and group singing of Christmas car ols; accompanied by Mrs. Stew art. A beautiful Christmas tree was epjoyed. Miniature reindeer, a Santa Clam and Christmas greenery completed the decora tions. A potluck dinner was followed by a social hour. Jackson celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary at a charming open- house affair Sunday, Dec. 11, at the attractive home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elton Jackson, at Winches ter. Guests were asked to call be tween two and five o'clock in the afternoon. The decorations carried out the ruby red motif as the ruby is the symbol of the fortieth wedding anniversary. The serving table was centered with ruby red car nations, matching chrysanthe mums and two ruby-colored wed ding bells flanked by red tapers. The fireplace mantel was cen tered wltn a large wedding ring with red carnations forming the ruby sets. Holly and heather completed the decorations. Mr. and Mrs. Jickson were married December 14, 1909, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Flndlay, in Edenbower. Rev. K. M. Meets performed the ceremony. Mr. Jackson is a former Sheriff of Douglas county and was grand master of the Grand Lodge of I.O.O.F. of Oregon in 1926-27. During the reception, they en joyed a telephone call from their son-in-law ana aauemer, Major and Mrs. James F. Hilgenberg, (formerly Dorothy Dale Jackson) who are now stationed at the air force base in Omaha, Nebr., since their recent return from Adak In the Aleutian islands. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Brockley, former residents of Koseburg, called from Astoria to congratulate the Jacksons. Mrs. Jackson was charming In a gown of turquoise blue trimmed with beaded embroidery. She wore an orchid corsage. Those assisting with the affair wore at tractive formal aiternoon gowns and corsages of gardenias. Music for the occasion was played by Mrs. Bernard Saar, Mrs. Sam Warg, Mrs. Gordon Stewart and Carolyn Jackson. Serving from two to three o'clock were Mrs. J. i-arl Pickens, wno poured; Mrs. Oliver L. Johnson, serving the punch, and Mrs. Al via Wetherell cutting the cake.
