"Colonial Silversmiths" was the topic of the D.A.R, meeting Monday evening at the home of Mrs. George Brown. Mrs. Orin T. Baker gave a resume of the topic and showed many cuts and pictures to highlight her pro gram. Officers for the coming year for D.A.R. are pictured above and Include Mrs. Cam Taylor, re gent; Mrs. Roy Entler, vice re gent; Mrs. O. T. Baker, secretary and Mrs. Dave Busenbark, treas urer. The Brown home was decorat ed in holiday fashion and assist ing the hostess was Mrs. Caylor. Attending were Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Roy S. Petrequln, Mrs. W. M. GRANGE TO HOLD ANNUAL XMAS PARTY SUNDAY NIGHT Sunday, Dec. 25, is the date of the annual Christmas party for members of the South Deer Creek Grange and their families to be held in the evening at the hall. A Christmas program will be followed by the exchange of gifts. The Grange met Saturday night at the hall. Mr. and Mrs. Gray were admitted by transfer from Riversdale Grange. Jim Kelsey was welcomed as a new member and several names of candidates were referred to the committee. A card was sent by the Grange to Cora Molton Smith, who is a patient in a hospital in Salem. Mrs. Harold McCormack read the story, "Just Before Christ mas." The 25-year pin was pre sented to L. L. Patterson and discussion was held on forming a new degree team. Mi BIRTHDAY CLUB HOLDS CH RISTMAS PARTY AT HARRY RESIDENCE Members of the 1-2 Birthday club of Canyonville held a Chv'st mas party recently at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Harry. During the social evening Christmas gifts were exchanged. .Ars. Har ry received a birthday gift from the club. A farewell gift was given Mrs. Mildred Fredrickson who is leav ing soon for her new home in Kansas. Mrs. Florence Hill was a guest. Refreshments, carrying out the holiday motif were served by Mrs. Fredrickson and Mrs. Opal Campbell, ., - The next meeting will be Jan uary 13 with Mrs. Marjorie Allen, Mrs. Virginia Bailey and Mrs. Bee Anderson as hostesses. PRE HOLIDAY PARTY HELD AT WINSTON A pre-holiday party at Winston was held at the .new home of Mrs. Henry Trobaugh when she entertained a group of friends. A large lighted Christmas tree and holly and candles on the mantle added to the holiday oc casion. Visiting and games comprised the entertainment and later gifts were distributed. The lodge will move to the Le gion hall the first of the year and Installation will be held there. : A Christmas box will be made up by the members of the lodge to be sent to an adopted daugh ter in the I.O.O.F. home in Port land. Holiday decorations were arranged about the rooms. The evening was spent at cards and games and later gifts were exchanged by the club members and their families. Those receiving prizes were Mrs. George Felt and Frank Paul, high; Mrs. Thomas Roark and Millard Reltmann, low; Mrs. Cecil Harris and George Felt, traveling prizes. A short business meet ing was held at which time Mrs. H. M. Anderson was elected sec retary to fill the unexpired term until June, of Mrs. Jennie Stum bo, who recently resigned. Sacks were filled with oranges, walnuts, peanuts and candy for distribution at the Canyonville community Christmas party to be held Thursday night. Dodge and her sister, Miss Georgia Gardiner, both of Canyonville sailed Thurs day, December 22, aboard the Lurllne. Their destination is Ha waii where they will spend two months. Miss Gardiner left Tues day and stopped off for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Howie at Laytonville, Calif. Mrs. Howie is the former Annette Dodge of this city. Mrs. Dodge left Wed nesday night and went directly to San Francisco where she will meet Miss Gardiner. PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION HOLD8 EVENING MEETING The Degree of Honor Protec tive association enjoyed a Christ mas party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wikoff Friday eve ning.
