Phony Red Tells
Of Women Lures
WASHINGTON UP) Testi
mony that the Communist party
used liquor and young women
without morals to lure American
servicemen to communism was
made public Tuesday night by the
Senate Judiciary committee.
The detailed testimony came
from John J. Huber, who said he
was an undercover FBI agent in
the Communist party from 1938
to 1947. The FBI declined com
ment. Huber's testimony was heard
behind closed doors weeks ago by
a subcommittee studying the prob
lem of subversive aliens. It has
just now been released.
Huber said girls who had "no
morals whatever" and "went to
any extremes" were used' to lure
soldiers, sailors, merchant marine
school graduates and others to
the Communist party doctrines.
He pictured the Communist
party in this country as part Df
"a world wide conspiracy which
takes orders from aders in Mos
cow. Huber said the eventual goal
is overthrow of the present U. S.
government by "force and violence."
Zoo Crocodile Swallows Bottle; Now What To Do?
CINCINNATI (IP) Marc, a
600-pound Nile crocodile, is the
center of attention at the Cin
cinnati zoo these days and all
because of a bottle.
It Isn't that Marc has been
hiting the bottle. Zoo officials
are afraid he swallowed it and
it may kill him.
The difficulty arose when some
one tossed a bottle into Marc's
pool. Marc grabbed the bottle
and zoo Superintendent White
couldn't get it away from him.
The next morning the bottle
was missing and White says it
couldn't have gone down the
drain so he surmised Marc had
swallowed It.
It wasn't long until Marc be
gan losing his appetite.
Dr. Carl A. Plueger, zoo vet
erinarian, was called In but lie
couldn't get close enough to
make an examination.
Dr. Plueger said he's worried
because a crocodile has a small
stomach.
"He's able to dlges't bones but
a bottle is another matter," Dr.
Plueger said.
He added Marc possibly could
live a full life with the bottle
in his stomach but, if It obstructs
his intestinal tract, it will shut
off circulation and he'll die of
gangrene.

Snowstorm To
Be Fabricated To
Meet Boy's Wish
CALEXICO, Callf.-iB Some
small boy here is going to have
an "impossible" Christmas wish
come true.
On Christmas eve It will snow
on this California-Mexican border
t wn for the first time since 1932.
And all because of a letter to
Santa Claus.
The post office received the
note In which the boy, who didn't
sign his name, told Santa how
good he had been all year and
how sad he was that he couldn't
play in the snow at Christmas
time, like northern boys.
All he wanted this Christmas
was a snowstorm.
The post office passed the let
ter on to the Chamber of Com
merce and the board of dirccto-s
decided they would fulfill this
wish.
So, starting at 3 p.m. Saturday,
planes of the border flying serv
ice will take off and, using crop
dusting ejectors, drop snow over
the city. Snow will be freighted in
from California mountain areas.
Santa Claus himself plus a few

helpers will load It Into the
planes. .
The only thing now that can
hinder this tampering with the
elements Is a switch In the ele
ments themselves.
But the Chamber of Commerce,
right on Its toes, brightly de
clared: "In case of rain Saturday we
will have our snowfall on Christ
mas day."
