NEW IDEA CLUB MEETS AT HESS HOME The New Idea club of Eden bower was entertained at a 1 o'clock dessert luncheon - at the home of Mrs. Clifford Hess in Garden Valley December 7. Members turned in scrapbooks they had been making for the Children's Farm Home in Cor vallls. The regular meeting fol lowed. Those present were Mrs. H. Blair Johnson,' a guest ; Mrs. C. B. Calkins, Mrs. Alvin Cloake, Mrs. W. D. Hess, Mrs. L. M. Hodges, Mis. C. E. Hughes, Jr., Mrs. C. E. Maries, Mrs. G. R. Smilh, Mrs. A. J. Standley and the hostess. . The next meeting will be held January 4 at a place to be an nounced later. HOME ECONOMICS CLUB PLANS CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR FAMILIES Sutherlin Home Economics club made plans for their annuul Christmas dinner for all grange members, families and prospec tive members at a meeting held Monday at the hall west of Suth erlin. The dinner will be held Decem ber 16 and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. at the Sutherlin grange hall. At the close of the meeting refreshments were served by Mrs. Faye Smith and Mrs. Rose marie Jones to Mrs. Phreda Wahl, Mrs. Lizzie Gleason, Mrs. Stella French, Mrs. Erma Buck, Mrs. Mabel Pearce, Mrs. Ellen Llesineer, Mrs. Hallle Partink, Mrs. Meda Schrack, Mrs. Maude Moore and Mrs. Kay Simmons, The next meeting of the club Is scheduled for January 9 at 1 1. grange hall. NINE GRANGES HOLD OFFICER INSTALLATION AT Rl VERSDALE HALL Installation of grange officers of nine separate granges was held at Rlversdale grange nail Saturday evening, Dec. 3. The new Sutherlin officers plan an important meeting Dec. 14 with an Interesting program. Members are reminded not to forget the Christmas dinner to b held at the Sutherlin Grange hall Friday evening, Dec. 16 for mem bers and their families. Sutherlin Audience Hears Concert On New Organ 1 1 i ' - -f ESTHER CEDDES of Roseburg last Sunday night was presented in an organ concert by the Young Adult Fellowship group of the Sutherlin Community Methodist 'church. A new Ham mond spinet organ has just been installed at the church. A capacity house was reported for the candlelight vesper service concert and reception which followed. (Picture by Master Studio). A capacity house of about 200 heard the Hammond spinet or gan concert presented by Esther Geddes of Roseburg at the Suth erlin Community Methodist church Sunday night. The program, a candlelight ves per service, was arranged by the Young Adult Fellowship group of the church in observance ol the new organ's Installation. A reception was held following the program. The electric organ's installa tion wns made possible by the Fellowship group, which, feeling the need of a project which would add stimulation, decided to pro mole lis purchase. The memorial committee included Edgar J. Mur nen, chairman, Mrs. Arthur Tre man, Charles Moore, Allen Stan ley and Robert Weaver. The program was presented in commemoration and In honor of Ora L. Banker, Jennie Slater Comstock, Robert O. Slater, Jo seph Gordon Chenoweth, Orville Kruse, Florence M. Sheffel, Ida F. Slack, James and Ella Horton Thompson, Irving M. and Mary Tut hill, and Judith Marie Weber. Jackson Phone 7 INTERNATIONAL GOLDIN RULE II THEME OF GREEN P-T.A. MEETING International Golden Rule week was the theme of the P-T.A. meeting at the Green schoolhouse Friday, Dee. 2 at 8 p.m. Rev. Walter A. MacArthur was guest speaker. Being aware of the need, alert to meet the need, and alive to the responsibility of carrying out an International Golden Rule, were the main points of hit address. The sixth grade, under the di rection of the teacher, Mrs. Ti son and pianist, third grade tea cher, Mrs. Hayes, furthered the international theme by singing songs from around the world. The King's Teens, under the direction of Miss Bernlce Oser, village missionary at Green, con cluded the program with two songs. The Chrlstmae program will be given Thursday, Dec. 22 In the auditorium of the new Green school. The next meeting, Jan. 6, will be dedication and open house of the new school. All are welcome. S. Cummins of Copco Friday night, Dec. 16, at eight o'clock at Rlversdale grange hall. The regular grange meeting will follow the showing of the picture. PENNY SUPPER TO BE ENJOYED SATURDAY NIGHT The Temmile Ladies club will sponsor a penny supper at six thirty o'clock Saturday evening at the clubhouse. Articles of fan cy work and aprons will be on sale. Mr. Wolbert will show a motion picture. Those attending are asked to bring a bowl for chill and their own table service. FOLK DANCING CLUB TO MEET SATURDAY The Sutherlin Folk Dancing club will meet Saturday evening at the Grange hall. All members are urged to be present. dedication.
