To date $220 has been turned iiliu ti.e oiflce from 33 "chool, and two of these schools have more to add to this. This is con sidered an excellent showing when it is understood that much of this money is donated in pen nies. Three of the most remote schools are included in the above, these are at Reston, Calesville and Callahan Trail. One hundred fifty gift boxes were shipped last week to the area office in San Francisco for redistribution overseas. A few more are on hand and other schools are filling them, Rose burg Junior high school having asked for 80 to fill. St. Joseph's school, Benson and Elkton ele mentary have each filled around 30 boxes apiece, the two latter having filled the greatest num ber of any elementary schools last year, also.. Many schools and a Camp Fire group are at work on Christmas favors, decorations, etc., for the Veterans hospital. The following is a quotation from a response to a request:, "We will make 100 menu covers for you. My room also is making SO nut cups, and will include the assorted nuts with which to fill them. Both will be ready by the 19th." The Tenmlle school, Mrs. Bes sie Smith, teacher - sponsor, is starting an afghan for a chil dren's hospital. Warren Mack To Sing At Service Set For Sunday f , I One of Roseburg's most talent ed singers Is scheduled to appear at the First Methodist church Sunday evening, Dec. 11, at the 7:30 service, the pastor, the Rev. W. A. MacArthur, announced. Warren Mack, recently moved to Roseburg from Eugene, and employed on the staff of the News-Review., will sing a series of three numbers at the increas ingly popular and inspiring eve ning services at the Methodist church. Mack has chosen for these selections, "Hear My Pray er" by James; "Sweet Little Je sus Boy," by McGimsey, and "The Angel. Song." Combining a voice of extreme ly pleasant qualities, gentle and flowing easily in lyric fashion with three musical scores of ten der appeal at this season, Mack's presentation promises to be one of exceptional enjoyment and In spiration, commented the Rev.
