nual Thanksgiving party Thurs
day night at the Masonic hall in
Gardiner. About one hundred
twenty-five attended the potluck
turkey dinner and enjoyed an
evening of musical entertain
ment provided by a men's quar
tet of Berge Borrevik, Roy
Cairns, Ben Mohler and M.
Baum. A duet by Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Taylor was followed by
group singing accompanied by
Mrs. Grover. Bingo was played
later in the evening. Mrs. Harold
Grubb of Gardiner was general

and practiced by fourteen home
makers at Scottsburg on Nov.

Unacclalmed civic and social leaders In communities througrout

listed among the tens of thousands of nominees tor the "Queen of
America" honor as the first half of the nation-wide campaign by
Mutual-Don Lee's "Queen for a Day" program reached its con
clusion November 26. The second halt will conclude December 10.
. Many unusual nominations have ' been rcoeived by the
week-day Cinderella program ' (11:30-12 noon), as a result ;
of the oonteet; For example, five teen-agers, patients In the
; Sister Kenny Foundation for Infantile Paralysis at the
Jersey City,. N. J., Medloal oenter, thought so much of '

In Chicago a knitting circle nominated a grandmother, Mrs1.
Walter E. Schoenfeld. In New York five blind veterans, seeking a
way to demonstrate their gratitude to the woman who has been
their hostess at many entertainmens and sports events, submitted
her name,. Miss Tess Coleman, as a nominee. Cover girls lu the
Walter Thorton Pln-Up Club demontrated support of one of their
members by nominating a girl who has graced the covers of many
nationally distributed magazines.' Mrs.' America of ,1949, ineligible
herself because she Is a former "Queen for a Day," caused the
nomination Of her sister, Mrs. Robert Bromley of Denver, Colo.
