BANQUET AND MEETING OF HOTEL ASSOCIATION ENJOYABLE AFFAIR Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Harding, Ernest Butler, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bodln entertained the Southern Oregon Hotel associa tion at the hotel Umpqua Sunday, November 20. The business meet ing was at 4:00 o'clock and in cluded election of officers. Lloyd Cummlngs, of the Oregon hotel in Eugene was elected president: Ernest Butler, hotel Umpqua, vice-president, and Charles Van Duyn, Eugene, Oregon, secretary treasurer. The banquet was served In the civic club room at 6:30 o'clock. All were seated at one long table, which was decorated with long, low floral arrangements of chry santhemums in various shades and three five-place sliver cande labras. Fifty-two guests attended. W. W. Chadwlck, hotel Sena tor, Salem, Oregon, as president, opened the meeting, then turned the program over to Jack Hard ing, who acted as toastmaster, giving the address of welcome and presenting the program. Rusty Steinbergcr, of the Happy Valley Cowboys, played the accordlan for community singing. Helen Casey gave a very in teresting talk on her experiences at foreign hotels on her South American trip. Miss Naomi Scott very grac iously played two violin solos. Mrs. Harris Ellsworth and Miss Helen Casey gave two skits which were most enjoyable. Congressman Harris Ellsworth talked of his. experiences at hotels on his European trip. Alter tne banquet, guests were invited to the Harding home where contract bridge and can asta were played. The affair was reported as most successful and enjoyable. LANDRETH HONORED AT RECEPTION Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Landreth Sr., who recently celebrated their golden wedding anniver sary at their home, were honor ed Saturday evening at a charm ing reception held at the beauti ful home of Dr. and Mrs. A. N. Johnson, on West Mosher street. The affair was sponsored by the faeventn Day Adventist church and was attended by the con- regatlon and a large number of L'lends. Mr. and Mrs. Landreth receiv ed the congratulations of 125 friends calling during the even ing hours. They sat in front of the fireplace, which was decorat ed with a huge golden "50th Wed ding Anniversary," sign tied with streamers of gold. A beautiful combination radio phonograph was presented by the church members and friends to the honored couple. Mrs. H. Doyle, Mrs. Dixie Cook and Mrs. Delia Webb were in charge of the reception ar rangements. A delightful pro- gram of readings, musical num ers and a scrapbook sketch of the life of the Landreths was presented and enjoyed. The guest book was In charge of Sylvia Jo Landreth, grand daughter of the honored couple. Younger girls of the church as sisted in the serving of the re freshments. The beautifully ap pointed serving table was center ed with a tiered wedding cake. RIFLE RANGE SEWING CLU3 HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING THURSDAY The Rifle Range Sewing club met at the home of Lena Pfaff Thursday afternoon with G w e n Frank as hostess. Alice Gill, vice-president, con ducted a short business meet ing. Prizes for the games went to Pauline Greenfield and Marlon Wilson.
